Research On The Design Of New Functions Based On Urban Public Libraries

Municipal public library is a cultural center of a city.It provides a substantial place for the preservation and transfer of knowledge,a carrier for the spread of local culture,and a public place open to all citizens for education and display.With the advancement of society,digital information is becoming more and more popular,readers’ minds and behavior habits have changed.Traditional urban public libraries can no longer meet the needs of modern readers,and the facilities in the museum are backward,and the management concept is old.Such internal reasons have prompted the city public library to make changes,its role in the city and its social functions have to be changed.This change is not to subvert the traditional social functions of urban public libraries,but to transform and renew the traditional social functions of urban public libraries,so that it is not only the cultural center of a city but also the leisure and the information center of the city.This paper firstly studies the development of urban public libraries,the distinction between urban public libraries and other types of libraries,their traditional social functions,and the forms of indoor spatial performance under traditional social functions.The library faces a huge crisis.The reasons are as follows: the diversity and complexity of resources;the changes in user requirements and usage habits;the competition between business and non-commerce;the incompatibility of the library itself.Second,there are also opportunities in the crisis to summarize the new social functions of urban public libraries and the expression of indoor space under their new functions.The new functions of urban public libraries are mainly the following three points: the satisfaction of individualization and popularization,Re-speech of sustainable education and human cultural heritage.After the conclusion is drawn,the case analysis of the recently constructed urban public library will be verified.Finally,based on the Zhangjiakou City Library,the new functions of the city public library are combined with the interior space design of the museum.The theory is linked with the reality,and the design layout is based on the theory of the new function.The urban public library society is embodied in the design.Transformations and updates made by the functions.
