The service area,an important supporting facilities,serves every driver and passenger directly,but also serves the whole society indirectly.It is also a window for the whole society to show the spiritual and cultural style of Guangdong Province.However,the garden construction has always been unable to keep up with the qualit y of service requirements,and it affects the comfort of the passengers who stay in the service area.Improving the service ability and ornamental of the service area by enhancing its garden construction becomes an urgent problem to be solved.This work takes a total of 16 service area of Peking-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway(G4)and Shenyang-Haikou Expressway(G15)as the research subject.The garden construction of these service area are studied with spot investigating from five aspects,including layout and green area of the service area,use function and facilities of the garden,content and quality evaluation of the garden landscape,plant landscaping and green maintenance.The problems and its cause analysis as well as similarities and differences of the garden construction are summarized.What's more,some improvement suggestions and reference cases are put forward through comparison of the 16 service area and other service area with characteristic garden construction.The study results of this work are as follows:(1)The garden construction problems of the service area in G4 and G15 are summarized.The layout and style were homologous and lack of individuality.The variation of the vertical design was seldom.The green area in non-core areas was usually large,but the use efficiency of the green area was low.It was used to solve the basic function,and the content was relatively simple.The number of facilities could not meet the basic requirements,and the form was single.What's worse,the form of sports facilities was not practical and unreasonable position.The location was ordinary and poor integration with the surrounding nature environment.The landscape in the core area was less,and it was not used efficiently,so it led to waste of resource.The building was lack of characteristic,and was not close to the local culture.The focus of the landscape was not distinct,and the position was not reasonable.The content of the landscape was single and not combined with the local culture.The pla nt landscaping was either unreasonable.The plant was small and grew badly.The content of the landscape was highly repetitive.(2)The similarities of the garden construction in the expressway service area of G4 and G15 are gathered.The layout as well as style of the service area was similar.Changes in the topography and vertical design were few.The green area of non-core area was generally larger than that of core area.The use function of the garden was multiple,but the content was single.The garden content was given priority with plant landscaping,and there was a few hard landscape.Most of the plant landscaping were just shrub and grass,and the plant configuration was lack of reasonable guidance.(3)Improvement suggestions of the garden construction in the expressway service area are proposed.Make full use of the original topography to do vertical design.Plan green areas in the service area reasonably,and pay attention to the amount of the green area in the core-area.Enrich the content of the use function of the garden.The design of facilities should be diversified in order to achieve multi-use effect.Retain the original natural characteristics,and integrate the surrounding nature environment with the whole landscape design.Make the content of the landscape a clear focus.Do a multi-function design for a green land,and increase the utilization rate.Design distinctive feature buildings with integration of local culture.Grow plant class properly to ensure the safety of the pedestrian and traffic in the road.Keep the plant landscape and the building style consistent.The type of the plant landscape is varied and its gradation is distinct.(4)The problems occur in the green land of the expressway service area of G4 and G15.The cost of the green land maintenance was insufficient,and the distribution of the reform cost was uneven.The level of the green land maintenance was low and didn't apply new technologies.The quality of the maintenance manager was varied,and the degree of specialization was low.The green land was destroyed badly.The plant class was not selected properly,which lead to security risks and increasing the workload.(5)The reasons for problems of the expressway service area of G4 and G15 are analyzed.The landscape construction in the service area was not paid enough attention.The cost of the landscape construction and green land maintenance was insufficient.The green construction and maintenance investment were limited without related standard for the garden construction in the service area.The passenger's awareness of protecting green space is poor and lack of propaganda.(6)The improvement strategies of the garden construction in the service area of G4 and G15 are put forward.Raise the attention of landscape construction in the service area.Pay attention to the scientific and practical of landscape design.Build sustainable and nature landscape.Improve the professional quality of the maintenance manager.Improve the propaganda and awareness o f protecting green space.
