Study On Design By Universal Design Of Public Facilities In Emergency Shelter

Emergency refuge facilities are an essential part of emergency shelter and the core of its construction.Objective Although there are some considerations in the design of emergency shelter facilities at home,it is only through the barrier free design to meet the needs of the elderly and the disabled.This paper aims at problems above,applys the universal design theory into design of city emergency refuge facilities for earthquake disasters,trys to make emergency shelters of public space in city meet needs of groups including the disabled better.Method Firstly,this paper makes a research and analysis on the current situation of the application of the universal design of emergency shelter facilities at home and abroad.By the the target population of Pyramid of universal design,it’s divided into four types of affected groups.Then,physiological and psychological characteristics of different groups and their influence on behavior were analyzed.Result put forward principles and methods of emergency shelter facilities on the base of universal design theory,at last,refuge facilities design of emergency shelters in Xi’an Fengqing Park as an example,by universal design method of emergency refuge facilities,innovated design of emergency shelter facilities design.Conclusion To apply universal design theory into the design of emergency shelter facilities can meet needs of different disaster-affected groups better,and provide a new thinking way for the design of emergency shelter facilities.
