With the rapid development of the national economy, the increased traffic flow, heavier axle load, and canalization trafficare significant features of modern traffic. The current transportation situation not only requires higher standards on the strength and stability of the structures of highways or city roads, but also increases the demands for driving speed and comfort. However, due tocomplex climate conditions and poor traffic situation in our country, many new highways and urban roads already have signs of early.damage.This damage includes rutting, water damage and cracks on asphalt roads, andbroken slabs, cracks, voids, and mud pumping on the cement concrete pavement.Even though vast amounts of money have been invested for road maintenance every year, these investments are insufficient to repair all the damage. This not only has been a huge wast of money on maintenance, but also affects thetraffic capacity and driving comfort, whicllcauses a negative impact on society. Therefore,it is of great significance to conduct research on new pavement materials to reduce early pavement damage, improve pavement performance, and extend the life of the pavement. The application of semi-flexible pavement, which is a new type of pavement structure, has gradually gained more attention from researchers.Semi-flexiblepavement refers to mixing a special slurry(cement as main component)into an open-graded(void ratio over 20%)asphalt concrete mixture?Irn this paper,we explain the optimal design of the mixing ratio between the open-graded asphalt concrete mixture and thehigh-permeability and low-shrinkagecementitious grout. This study improves the mechanical properties and performance of the semi-flexible pavement. The volumetric design method, which is based on volume filling theory, was used for designing the open-graded asphalt concrete mixture. The main framewas designed by the gradualvibrate-compacted concrete, and its void ratio was then measured.Based on main frame's void ratio and the asphalt mixture, the porosity was calculated, and the amount of fine aggregate and asphalt was determined. This totaled the volumes of fine aggregate, mineral powders, asphalt, and reserved air void equal to the void volume of the main frame aggregate. The optimum amount of asphaltwas then determined based on the bond stress and the adhesive index, which is thecapabilityto resist thermal stress.Twenty-five sets of different mixture ratios were designed by utilizing orthogonal test method to study the effect to cementitious grout from six different factors:water-cement...
