Rigorous humidity control is desired in small spaces such as relics display ca se,for repeatedly rapid change of air humidity may cause permanent damage to cultural relics.Irreversible damage can be caused by violent and frequent fluctuation of humidity.Humidity buffering behaviors of solid adsorbent in small-enclosed space was researched in this paper by experiment and numerical simulation,in order to explore an effective method to reduce humidity change in small-enclosed space.First,the experiment table was set,based on cabinet size,to collect and process experimental data.Experiment conditions were changed to study the humidity buffering behaviors of solid absorption materials and the influences of solid adsorbent type,quantity and its geometrical arrangement on humidity variation.The experiment result indicated that humidity buffering behaviors of solid absorption materials was influenced by solid adsorbent type.Take palygorskite for example,the humidity buffering effect increased with the increase of mass and the increase of contact area within limits.But the rise was diminishing.The humidity variation model of the test box was developed,as well as the humidity diffusion model of the solid adsorbent materials.These two mathematical models was coupled to derive consequences with the help of mathematical method.The results proved that various factors played a part in humidity buffering of solid absorption materials on humidity variation.The humidity buffering effect increased with the increase of diffusion coefficient,contact area and height of solid absorption materials within limits.But the rise was diminishing.The result of experiment showed that humidity buffering behaviors of solid absorption materials in small-enclosed space was influenced by solid adsorbent type,quantity and its geometrical arrangement,which is similar to the result of numerical simulation.The comparative analysis of experiment and numerical simulation indicates that humidity change can be improved dramatically with the help of solid absorption materials in small-enclosed space,which has great significance for preservation of cultural relics.
