With the rapid development of the economy in Yangtze River,especially the export-oriented economy in the areas along the Yangtze River,the total freight tonnage increases continuously.What's more,there are more sea-river ships entering the Yangtze River and these ship are becoming larger,therefore,requirements of resources application and channel maintenance has become more stringent.With the 12.5m deep-water channel project which extends to Nanjing,channel resources in the segments below Nanjing can get fully utilized.Part of the channel resources in the segment from Yichang to Nanjing can't get effective utilization due to the constraints of the natural conditions and maintenance dimension standards of the channel.As a result,the upstream movements of large vessels are constrained,which further leads to the poor transportation efficiency and high transshipment cost.For the maximization of the economic benefit,port and shipping industries hope to efficiently and conveniently proclaim the deep-water areas on the condition of high water level and establish corresponding standards of the channel dimension.Starting from the economic perspective,increasing the operation benefits by increasing the deadweight capacity of single voyage is not only feasible,but accords with the objective rules of our country's market economy.How to objectively and timely reflect the actual channel conditions by meeting the requirements,and further improve the channel maintenance efficiency and through capacity,as well as make full use of the channel resources,and provide better shipping service are the new topics in the construction,maintenance and management of the channel.In this paper,firstly,taken the economy and security as the targets,the sea-river channel in the main line of Yangtze river is defined and explanation is made to its characteristics combining the properties of the channel.Secondly,directing at the current situation development trends of the ships in Yangtze river,numerical calculation is made using the mathematical model of the needed ship breadth and the needed channel dimensions of typical ship types in Yangtze river are proposed.And according to the calculation results,inspection is made to different segments of the sea-river channel and channel dimension standards for different segments are proposed.Thirdly,configuration model of the maintenance ships is established according to the properties and characteristics of the channel and by analyzing the number of navigation aids in the coverage range of single maintenance ships.Then the model is used to make calculation for the configuration of the maintenance ships in the administrative region of Nanjing and Wuhu channel management department.Fourthly,the configuration model of the surveying ships in the sea-river channel is established based on the navigation speed and survey timeliness,and this model is further used to make calculation for the configuration of the survey ships in the administrative region of Huangshi and Wuhan channel management department.Finally,the configuration model of the anchorage grounds in the sea-river channel is proposed based on the ship traffic flow,and anchorage grounds in the administrative region of Wuhan navigation bureau is taken to make practical calculation.Researches results in this paper can provide some references for the feasible application of the channel resources,promotion of shipping development in Yangtze river,programming of the navigation routes for ships of different types and sizes,as well as the enrichment of theories related with the channel maintenance and management.
