The intelligent upgrading and reconstruction of urban traffic system is the inevitable trend of urban development.Intersections pre-signal system and intelligent signal control are the hot topics in the field of traffic engineering.This paper summarizes previous engineering experience and research results.The intelligent control of pre-signal intersection based on bus priority is proposed.The transportation intelligence upgrade project in Wuxi,Binhu District is the engineering background.The intersection of Taihu Avenue-Qingqi Road is the research object.The simulation software VISSIM was used to build the model and the feasibility study of the intelligent signal control of intersections is analyzed.Finally,cost-benefit analysis is used to transform the results into economic benefits which is convenient for decision makers to carry out a plan.Based on the existing research results,the types of intersections and setting conditions for the pre-signal system are summarized.And the parameter and logic algorithm for the intelligent control system of the pre-signal intersections are carried out.According to the traffic volume data provided by Wuxi Municipal Design Institute,The layout and parameters of the pre-signal lane are determined.Finally,the intersection model was built with VISSIM,a micro traffic simulation software.Through multiple simulations,a comprehensive peak hour traffic simulation report is obtained.And compared and analyzed with current situation,analysis results which consist of traffic delay,number of braking,queue length,fuel consumption,emission and traffic conflict can be acquired.In order to make a comprehensive analysis of the intelligent pre-signal intersections,the intersection of pre-signal intelligent control system and non-presignal timing control intersection,pre-signal timing control intersection and non-presignal actuated control intersection are compared.And the independent traffic evaluation indexed are converted into a unified economic benefit based on data collected for 24-hour traffic changes,value of residents' travel time,historical data on oil prices,data of traffic accident property loss and pollution control costs.Finally,the conditions on which the pre-signal intelligent control system can achieve the highest economic benefit can be calculated.
