The street network in Chinese traditional city is derived from Lv-li,a top-down land division system, while the street network in the west is derived from the block's proliferation.Different street network modes based on different spatial-social unity, the "Superblock" and "Block".Compared with the direct connection between block and street network in the west, the Superblock shows the Introverted living culture of China.Based on spatial syntax(DepthMap)and urban data(ArcGIS),this paper analyzes the network of Beijing Old Town Street. On the one hand, the Beijing Old Town Street Network has experienced the evolution of Jinzhongdu,Yuandadu,Ming-Qing Dynasties and the modern old city, the street network continues and reinforces the hierarchical differences in the overall system, and the Intelligibility between the local and the whole is reduced; On the other hand, the iteration of traffic technology makes the old city develop into a “macro continuous and micro fracture” street network,macro-continuous street network brings a large number of people and traffic, which has a strong separation effect on the city,so that many “Super-blocks” have been formed. At the same time, based on the analysis of the distribution of vegetable markets and convenience stores,it is concluded that “Super-block” presents a kind of adaptability on topological scale under the influence of the Chinese traditional residential culture.Based on the characteristics of Beijing old town street network, this paper puts forward the two-level renewal concept of "Super-block and Micro-community".Taking " Super-block " as the first-level renewal unit of resource integration in the old city renewal, the "Microcommunity" inside Super-block is divided as the second-level renewal unit.In this paper, with reference to the spatial adaptability(topological scale)characteristics of the “Super-block”,and the concept of two-level renewal is illustrated by the example of the Fengsheng Hutong-type superblock(B29)and the Zhuanta Hutong.
