Zinc oxide arrester(MOA),a critical protection device in the power grid,is used to limit high voltages in the power system.Due to its excellent non-linear resistance characternstic and strong current carrying ability,it is widely used in power systems to ensure safe operation.The on-line arrester monitoring system is designed to protect the safe operation of the zinc oxide arrester,which is an important power facility that prevents the arrester from causing electrical system accidents due to surface contamination,damping,and aging.Therefore,it is of great significance to develop an on-line arrester monitoring system with excellent performance.This paper introduced the overall design of the on-line MOA monitoring system,analyzed the operating principle of the monitor,and described the detailed functions of the host computer and the server software.The monitoring system was elaborated from the two aspects of hardware and software.The hardware part covered the design of the control module,data acquisition module,power supply module,GSM module,wireless serial port module,storage module and clock module,while in the software part,the C language was used to compile and run functions such as GSM data transmission,wireless serial data transmission and reception,and data acquisition in the mplab integrated development environment.At the same time,languages such as C#and PHP were used to develop the host computer and server of the system,respectively.Besides,the number of lightning strikes and the leakage current of the arrester was successfully acquired,indicating the information interaction with the host computer and the server system was completed.Designed on the basis of traditional monitoring systems,the on-line arrester monitoring system solves the problems of traditional ones,such as difficulty in wiring,heavy maintenance workload,difficulty in data collection,and poor real-time.Moreover,it has the advantages of stable performance,easy installation,and simple data acquisition at the same time,making it capable of stably and reliably satisfying the needs of enterprises in the actual operation.
