The damage of direct lightning to industrial buildings will cause serious loss of property and even endanger lives.Therefore,the importance of lightning protection design in power plant design is self-evident.Traditional lightning protection design establishes the number and position of lightning rods by formula calculation,which still has some shortcomings,such as less intuitive,weak sense of design and large investment in human resources.As a result,the major design institutes began to apply the 3D design method.3D lightning protection design avoids the shortcomings of 2D design and improves the accuracy of lightning protection design.As a common 3D software for thermal power plant design,PDMS software has unique collaborative design function,however,PDMS software itself does not have the function of automatically generating electrical models from input data.Based on this,this paper develops a 3D lightning protection design program by applying PDMS software,realizes the function of automatically generating the protection range according to the location information of lightning rods,makes up for the design defects of domestic collaborative design 3D software in 3D lightning protection design,verifies it in real engineering,so as to meet the requirements of large-scale application in Engineering.The main research content of this paper is to propose the design requirements of 3D lightning protection design according to the design defects of several international and domestic frequently used design methods of lightning rod protection range(broken line method,rolling ball method,straight line method)and traditional lightning protection designs.Then,according to different design mentalities under different lightning rod protection modes,such as the relative position analysis of imaginary lightning rod and minimum width point in double unequal height lightning rods design method of broken line method,the redundant model cutting method in double rods protection design method of rolling ball method,the triangular splitting design method of straight line method with combined protection of multiple lightning rods,and so on,construct development framework of 3D lightning protection design program and program development process,use PML language to develop automatically generation of single,double and multiple lightning rods protection models and map shadows of protected height,at last,the results of the second development program of lightning protection design are checked under different algorithms with the same kind of software and traditional calculation method based on the real engineering data,to demonstrate whether the secondary development program of lightning protection design meets the expected development needs and has certain social value and economic benefits.
