With the development of aircraft technology,the number of military aircraft and civil aircraft is increasing faster and faster.However,the aircraft would be repainted for several times in their lifespan.Due to the rapid growth of aircraft machine,the gap of surface cleaner or coating stripper is huge,and many of it is exported.Traditional coating stripper usually have acidic component,which tends to corrode the aircraft.In order to improve the disadvantage of it,we should spare no efforts to develop a highly efficient and green coating stripper.Previous practice indicates that formic acid can play a significant role in the process of paint stripping.The results of this work explain how formic acid promotes degradation of both the topcoat and primer,how proper use of a solvent can accelerate this process,how to built an evaluation model to assess products,and how to design experiments by orthogonal test mind.To understand the role of acidic components and develop a neutral or mildly acidic remover,we investigated this process using qualitative research methods.The degradation mechanism of topcoat and primer by formic acid in various solvent systems was studied to promote development of neutral or mildly acidic paint remover for use in this field.Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectra indicated that the polyurethane topcoat was degraded to aliphatic alcohol while carbamate was rapidly degraded to carbon dioxide and primary amine.At the same time,the epoxy primer was degraded to phenolic substances and aldehydes.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)results confirmed the proposed mechanism of this process.Futhermore,the evaluation model is based on Analytic Hierarchy Process and it combine Total Quality Management mind and basic theory of System Engineering.Moreover,it is built before the selection process of raw material and the orthogonal test.This model would decrease the deviation from subjective factors,which could promote the efficiency of experiments and make the correct evaluation of every product.During the experiment process,species and contents of primary solvent and assisted solvent of final product are decided by results of the orthogonal test.Viscosity of final product is improved by results of single-factor experiment.What is more,based on that result,large-scale product is prepared successfully.Finally,from the comprehensive evaluation of final product,which contains stability,convenience,economic,environmental protection,efficiency,and based on the results of orthogonal test,evaluation model and large-scale experiment,the composition of final product is determined,which is proper for industrial prepartion.The viscosity of that product is about 850-870mpa · s,which is suitable for the process of large area stripping.
