With the development of urban economy, the society pay much more attention to power station's structure safety. And as an important part of power station, the study of cooling tower's seismic behavior is necessary. So far,the research reports about cooling tower's seismic behavior at China and abroad are all based on its period of normal working. This paper takes the lead in studying the seismic behavior of the cooling tower, whose external concrete has been corroded off.Based on the seismic response theory and response spectrum analysis theory of concrete theory, combining with actual engineering project, two finite element analysis models about intact cooling tower and corroded cooling tower have been built.Using ABAQUS,their earthquake responses are calculated, and the results are compared and analyzed. The final contrast analysis result shows, that the corrosion impact causes the decrease of cooling tower's natural vibration period. And two types of modes, coupled modes between latitude and meridian and lateral bending modes, are the main types of cooling tower's participation modes. However, the lateral bending modes of corroded cooling tower are located in 25-26 layer and 51-52 layer, while the intact cooling tower's are located in 45-46 layer and 79-80 layer. It also shows that the corrosion impact enlarges the seismic response of cooling tower. The truss-column's maximum Mises stress increases 400 k N/m2.Those should be considerate in cooling tower's aseismic design.
