Gear mechanism is the most widely used in mechanism around the world,because gear mechanism has stable transmission,superior carrying capacity,easy to process and maintain.Face gear is a special kind of gear mechanism,which is widely used in both defense and commercial industries.It requires less accuracy during assembly,its volume is small,weight is light,and it has large coincidence with smooth and stable force transmission.The application of face gear has great potential commercial value.However,there are still many difficulties and limitations to widely apply face gear mechanism,such as,the calculation and design between the two-dimensional gear surfaces are difficult,hard to process using traditional process method,also with expensive cost to design and make.This thesis is to use assistant design software program to overcome the difficulty from design and production.Fishing reel is the common fishing tackle for fisherman,the main mechanism inside is face gear mechanism,it is quite difficult to design and process the gears due to the modules are less than 1.Most of the technologies of fishing reel suppliers are from Japan.So,in order to overcome this difficulty,this thesis presents below outputs using CAD assistant design program.1.We can set up a modeling program of 3D digital pinion using Pro/E software's re-exploit function,this program can have great expansibility;it can automatically generate a pinion gear model by changing the data,which can save lots of massive calculation work.So,this program can save labor and cost,increase the design efficiency,shorten the project development period.2.This program can use pinion model to generate a face gear model,then use Mastercam software to program it,use CNC machine to machine the electrode of the face gear,then make the tooling/mold and die-cast the face gear,in this way,we can get rid of the dependence on Japanese technology.In addition,the design program in this thesis will NOT only work on the orthogonal face gear on fishing reels,it can also work on non-orthogonal face gear in other industries,which indicates great potential application and commercial value.
