Research On The Recreation Activities Of Visitors In Guangzhou's Main Urban Districts Waterfront

In the long history of human civilization,living besides the waterfront area was a common lifestyle of human beings.The bright civilization,as well as a wealth of recreation culture often results from the waterfront area.As Guangzhou is no exception,Guangzhou is the canal town in the traditional sense,dur ing the process of the development of urban construction,although the feature of canal town was gradually lost,which still remained a lot of waterfront area.Simultaneously with the increase of people's living standards and environmental awareness,how to meet the people's growing demands for recreational activities become the subject of the construction of urban waterfront.Therefore,there are great significance and practical value in the studying of the planning and design of Guangzhou?s main urban districts waterfront space from the point of humanization and the needs of recreational needs.In this study,which be surveyed was the Guangzhou?s main urban districts waterfront space,including four types of waterfront space,four riverside waterfront areas,four lakeside park waterfront areas,two canal waterfront areas.Studying the situations of different types of waterfront space?s recreational activities by the solutions of the use of literature,questionnaire,and the manner which combined the field observation with interviews.By the questionnaire of waterfront visitors and on-site observations,analyzed the situations of waterfront visitors,and made statistics of the waterfront visitors? evaluations and recommendations,summarized factors which affected visitors? recreational activities.In the last,through all the related date analysis,not only the construction techniques of three types of waterfront recreational space be summarized respectively,but also the existing problems in Guangzhou?s main urban districts waterfront space,and then the design principles and managements points have been put forward.The main results are as follows:(1)The situations of recreational activities in Guangzhou?s main districts waterfrontIn terms of the basic charac teristics of the composition of groups of visitors,made the statistic and analysis of six basic attributes which are gender,age,occupation,education level,place of origin,family structure.On the reasons for visitors to reach the waterfront area for recreation activities,the former three of three types of waterfront was: beautiful scenery,close distance between the waterfront and your workplace or habitation,active exercises.The man way to waterfront is on foot.In terms of the visitors? main recreational activities,on weekdays,the ranking of the top six were: walking(with the dog),sightseeing,sitting and chatting,watching performances,running,fitness equipment.O n rest days,the ranking of the top six were: walking(with the dog),sightsee ing,sitting and chatting,watching the show,running,photography activities.(2)The statistic of visitors? evaluation and recommendations about recreational activities in Guangzhou main urban districts waterfrontOn the satisfaction of waterfront space,the riverside waterfront embraced the highest degree of satisfaction,which followed by the lakeside park waterfront,and the lowest satisfaction belonged to the canal waterfront.In all kinds of service facilities,the lake park waterfront was the most satisfied type,which followed by the riverside waterfront,and the satisfaction of canal waterfront was the lowest.Obviously,the lakeside park waterfront shown more perfect in aspects of the completeness of facilities and sanitation.In terms of visitors? preferences and recommendations regarding waterfront space,the seat with a back,the pavilion and the gallery,and the tree pool edge were the most favored amenities.And the most popular recreational space is which exists a certain distance away from the shore,where below the trees and you can watch the water,and followed by the place where near the shore,more intimate and below the trees.The natural shoreline and the wooded space were the most two popular types of hydrophilic shore environment.Regarding the open opinions of visitors,which mainly concentrated in the supply and demands of basic facilities and issues in recreational space.(3)The main factors affecting the recreation activities of waterfront space visitorsAffecting factors of visitors? recreations activities including visitors themselves elements and space elements.The visitors themselves factors include visitors? gender and age,occupations,and family composition.The main space elements including the effects of spatial scale and proportion,spatial interface characteristics.(4)The analysis of visitors? recreational activities in different types of waterfront1)The riverside waterfront: the most popular recreational activities in the first six bits were walking(with the do g),sightseeing,sitting and chatting,ferry,watching the show,running.The characteristics of which were geographic differences and clustering.2)The lakeside park waterfront: the most popular recreational activities in the first six bits were walking(with the dog),sightseeing,sitting and chatting,watching the show,running,photography activities.The characteristics of which were diversity,self-entertainment and recreational properties.3)The canal waterfront: on weekdays,the most popular recreational activities in the first six bits were walking(with the dog),sitting and chatting,sightseeing,swimming,chess and mahjong,photography activity.O n rest days,the most popular recreational activities in the first six bits were chatting,walking(with the dog),swimming,photography,scenery,chess mahjong.The characteristics of which were proximity and stability.(5)The methods of the construction of visitors? recreational space in waterfrontCombining the behavioral and psychological needs of visitors with the objective environment of waterfront,making the analysis and discussion about the space elements in two elements.Natural elements: the flat floor,rich plants,suitable water area,shade trees.Artificial elements: the shade facilities,seating benches,reasonable roads,fitness facilities.
