With the rapid development of global economy.The stock of fossil fuels on earth gradually couldn't keep up with the demand of humans.The sight of people was focused on the available resources which is clean and renewable on earth.As a kind of inexhaustible,wide distribution,high reserve energy,wind energy has a very big potential on excavation.Wind power had been used by humans for a few thousands of years,sail navigation technology was taken seriously by people with the change of the modern environment.Modern sail navigation technology began to be researched and applied in large ships by many countries.However,the target of the research and application was mainly about large ocean-going ships,not for some small ships in river.A kind of dual-purpose wind energy device which can not only help navigation by using the abundant wind resources in coastal,but also help generating power by using the pinch wind resources in the river was designed according to the requirements of project specification and characteristics of the target ship(20000DWT river to sea bulk carrier).Wind power can beused by the device on routes of the target ship extremely and maximum wind energy was achievedutilization.The research content of this article can be divided into four parts.In the first part,the data of the target ship and its wind resource on route was collected in order to computing the probability density of wind speed on each regional by using statistical methods,describe the distribution of the wind in related areas by drawing rose map of the direction of the wind.Final form of energyusing on the target ship according to the statistical result was determined.In the second part,the related information of sail and wind generator was collected in order to choose the correct type of sail and wind driven generator,and then the preliminary idea of the dual-purpose wind energy device was put forward.Simulation on aerodynamic property of airfoil under different angle of attack was completed,and then,the best manipulation angle of the sail was determined.In the third part,according to the constraint conditions on the routes of and target ship and the relative regulation and convention of the driving sight of the ship,in order to determine the structure,size and material of the sail,size of the sail was taken as constraint conditions,flow tube theory was used to analyze parameter of the wind driven generator.CAD drawing software was used to complete the integral design of the dual-purpose wind energy device.In the fourth part,the finite element model of the sail was completed as well as wind driven generation,constraint condition was given to carry on the simulation respectively because of difference of working conditions between the two devices.A simulation of the sail was carried on under wind condition from level 6 to level 10.The structural strength of the sail meet the design requirements was verified,the stress distribution of sail in the process of rotation was simulated under wind condition of level 9.The wind driving generation was simulated from static state to the rated speed state,the structure change was verified under the rated conditions.Optimization strategy was proposed based on the results of simulation finally.
