National music is an indispensable part of Chinese culture.The research work on the national music hall and traditional national musical instruments is still in its infancy.Directivity is a basic physical characteristic of musical instruments.Due to the lack of directional database of national instruments,the computer simulation often uses non-directional sound source,which may cause the result of simulation to be incompatible with the actual auditorium sound quality.This study measured the directivity of horizontal and side elevations of five kinds of national instruments in the anechoic chamber for the purpose of applying computer simulation software and the directional graphic file?SO8 file?of the five kinds of stringed instruments is created by the Odeon directivity polar plot editor.The file was applied to the computer simulation and the subjective listening test to compare the influence of the instruments'directivity on the acoustic parameters and the subjective evaluation of auditorium acoustics.In this study,the S08 directional document of national stringed instruments that can be applied to computer simulation software was obtained for the first time.Tests show that there are certain differences in the directional characteristics between the five types of stringed instruments and the bands.The simulated results found that the sound source directivity of the instrument had little influence on the T30,SPL and EDT.For the C80,the influence in the mid-high frequency was more significant,especially in the middle position.The subjective listening test results showed that the sound source directivity has a significant impact on the subjective evaluation and the listener has a clear preference for the music samples obtained by using a real instrumental directional sound source.The reason for preference is that using the real musical instrument sound sources is more authentic and clearer.
