It is known that the absorption wheel has the ability on dehumidification and air purification.The air cycle heat pump,with simple construction,was found the heating capacity is in line with heating load.Based on the research of air cycle heat pump and absorption wheel,this paper aims to develop a kind of air conditioning system which can integrates heating,cooling,purification and dehumidification into one unit.Such of this system can reduces energy consumption and operating cost as well as improve air quality.This paper proposed a clean air cycle heat pump system which based on an air cycle heat pump with a turbocharger driven by a blower and an absorption wheel.A thermodynamic model for an air cycle heat pump with a turbocharger driven by a blower was built by using finite-time thermodynamics.The analytical solution of this model has been compared with the literature data and simulating data.An absorption wheel experiment was built to measure the solid particulate purification ability of an absorption wheel.In this experiment,the purification ability can be obtained by the hourly variation of solid particulate concentration of the room.The air cycle heat pump construction with different quantity blower has been measured.A matching mathematic model has been built between air cycle heat pump and an absorption wheel,furthermore,the relationship between the heat pump heating capacity and the absorption wheel air volume rate has been obtained.Finally,the heating and air purification performance of the clean air cycle heat pump system has been demonstrated by a case of electric car.The simulation results of the air cycle heat pump thermodynamic model were shown.The heating COP just reduces from 1.78 to 1.69 as the environment temperature decrease from 5?to-25?.The heating COP of an air cycle heat pump with turbocharger driven by a blower just reduces 5%when external temperature has a 35?decrease which means the performance more stable comparing with traditional air cycle heat pump.Meanwhile,this paper confirmed the heating capacity in line with the heating load for the air cycle heat pump with turbocharger driven by a blower.In the aspect of air cycle heat pump experiment,it can be found that the single blower system has low backpressure which would result to low turbocharger efficiency as well as low heating COP.However,two parallel blowers could overcome these disadvantages.As for the air purification test of an absorption wheel,it was found that the absorption wheel has a good purification effect on solid particulate.This paper found that the absorption wheel has different purification effect on different diameter particles.Under the same working condition(air mass flow 260m~3/h,temperature 18?),the purification efficiency just 21.5%for the diameter particle less than 1?m,however the efficiency would rise to 74.1%as the diameter particle greater than 10?m.Besides,air volume rate has a great influence on purification effect.With other conditions unchanged the purification efficiency could goes up from 70.3%to 94.6%while the air volume rate reduces from 260m~3/h to 60m~3/h.Meanwhile,the air volume rate of air purification was smaller than dehumidification.When the air volume rate decreases to 70%of dehumidification,the purification efficiency can reaches to 82%.In addition,it was found that the initial concentration and relative humidity have seldom impact on purification efficiency.The purification efficiency just increases 5%as the relative humidity has a 35?increase.It suggested that the absorption wheel can maintain its purification stability while the external environment changes.While applying in a battery electric vehicle,the clean air cycle heat pump system was confirmed with lower energy consumption and higher air quality.
