With the development combination of automotive electronics and microelectronic technology,microelectronic technology changes continuously which improves the renewal of automotive electronic equipment.People's demands for electronic facility used in modern automotive electronic systems with stability,high performance and multi-functions are getting increased.The energy of automotive electronic systems comes from automotive generators and automotive voltage regulator is the key module to regulate automotive generator.So the performance of monolithic integrated automotive voltage regulator directly affects the usage and safety of automotive electronic systems.Automotive voltage regulator is the key element to stabilize the output voltage between the automotive generator and the storage battery and provides voltage for electronic equipment in automobiles.Currently,automotive voltage regulator chips designed in China are still in the status of single performance.But it is necessary to design a multi-functional voltage regulator in the era of multi-functional automobiles.This paper is based on the careful study of literatures related to automotive electronic systems at home and abroad and different specification requirements among a variety of automobile brands.The designed high performance monolithic integrated automotive voltage regulator divides the chip into bandgap voltage reference module,comparator module,oscillator module,speed detecting module,voltage detecting module,protection module as well as driving module based on the understanding of functions,working principles as well as structures and each of the module is simulated and verified with Cadence simulator tool.The voltage regulator is designed with 80 V p-JFET compatible high voltage bipolar technology provided by the 24 th institute attached to CETC.The circuit provides stable output voltage under all circumstances and achieves cut in speed,pre-excitation,and over temperature over voltage as well as over current protection functions.
