Urban expansion is a complex process of spatiotemporal transformation. With the rapid development of social economy in recent years, the development of urbanization has been promoted to be a higher level. In the process of urbanization,it is bound to be accompanied by the increase in the size of the city.Construction land will take up a large number of other non-construction land, and impact on urban ecological environment thereby. At the same time, because of the increasing population of the city, the city needs to continuously optimize the land use pattern and industrial planning in order to meet the needs of the urbanization process. In order to study the process of interaction between urban expansion and various factors,at first,This paper summarizes and analyzes the same research achievements at home and abroad, and draws the research experience. The Landsat images from1996,2000,2006,2011 and 2016 were used to study the urban spatial expansion trend and the interaction between driving factors and driving mechanisms in Kuqa County. To establish policy factors, socioeconomic factors and other driving factors and driving mechanisms. To discuss the changing law of built-up areas and the primary and secondary effects of different driving mechanisms in the process of urban expansion in qualitative and quantitative ways,by the way analyzing and evaluating the urban scale effect, urban duality structure, urban agglomeration effect, and ecological environment resulting from urban expansion in Kuqa County. The policy factors are the key factors when influencing the expansion of urban space in Kuqa County, which play an important role in the positioning of economic development, urban and rural development concepts, and land use restrictions in the study area.Secondly,socio-economic factors have important implications for urban space expansion in Kuqa County. In addition, the research conclusions have a certain guidance function on solving the problems such as the reasonable layout of urban space in Kuqa County, the integration of urban and rural areas, and the intensive use of land. This article draws the following conclusions:(1)We can see that through the dynamic monitoring and analysis of remote sensing in the different period of Kuqa County, there is a difference in the speed of urban expansion at different times, during the development of the fourth stages, the urban expansion area and expansion speed have been promoted in different degrees. The expansion area of the urban built-up area of Kuqa County is 5.3 km~2 during the first stage(1996-2000),the speed of expansion is 1.06km~2/a;in the second stage(2000-2006),the expansion area of the urban built-up area of Kuqa County is 9.87km~2,the speed of expansion is 1.974km~2/a;in the third and fourth stage(2006-2016years),the expansion area and expansion speed of the urban built-up area were 17.41km~2,3.482 km~2/a and 19.07 km~2 and 3.814 km~2/a respectively,it can be seen that the speed of urban expansion in the third and fourth stage is more than 3 times than the first stage, this proves that the 2006-2016 is the rapid development stage of Kuqa City.At the same time, the annual average growth rate of urban expansion increases with time,it reaches the peak with 8.83%at the third stage, and the fourth stage is 6.62%,it shows that the extent of urban expansion in the fourth stage of Kuqa County is slightly slowing down.By the time,to analysis land use change in the built area of Kuqa County, the expansion area of urban green land is increasing with the expansion area of the urban built-up area of Kuqa County and green land coverage is stable, the per capita green land has a higher promotion, but the proportion of urban water body has a downward trend, finally, the adaptation degree of urban expansion and urban population change in Kuqa County is discussed through the urban expansion coefficient and the area per capita construction land use,the first stage is excessive expansion, the second stage is not obvious, urban expansion can’t meet the needs of population growth, the expansion of the third stage is compatible with the urbanization process.in the four stage, because of the negative growth of urban non-agricultural population,it just indicates that the loss of population pulled down the speed of urban expansion at the fourth stage.(2)Among the three driving factors that influence urban expansion, policy factors are the main driving force,it determines the macro background and economic development status of Kuqa County, also has an important impact on urban expansion based on the formulation and implementation of policy.Grey correlation analysis is conducted on socioeconomic data in Kuqa County,it shows that the most powerful driving force of urban built-up area expansion in Kuqa is non-agricultural population but the minimum driving force is the total amount of investment in fixed assets. The order of the influence degree of the driving force is non-agricultural population, gross domestic product, gross industrial output value, local fiscal revenue and total investment in fixed assets.(3)By analyzing the social and economic effects of urban expansion in Kuqa County,we can see that epitaxy expansion gives priority to the scale of urban expansion in Kuqa County, the degree of improvement of connotation is low, leading to the appearance of urban spatial representation and dualistic structure of social connotation in Kuqa County, this phenomenon needs to be properly handled. With the expansion of the city,Kuqa County is not only manifested in the urban agglomeration of counties and townships,at the same time,it also shows high urban agglomeration effect, this provides better location advantages and opportunities for the development of Kuqa County and surrounded counties.
