| This research proceeds from the perspective of urban design and realizes combination of institutional old-age care facilities with the surrounding environment via integrated design.By studying the organic integration among elders’ behavioral characteristics,spatial elements of institutional old-age care facilities and surrounding environment,this research can not only promote social old-age care service functions of institutional old-age care facilities,but also effectively get involved in the dynamic circulating system of urban old-age care service.Additionally,through this research,a personalized old-age life service space can be created for elders in the old city area.To start with,the research status of the research question in this paper is analyzed by referring to research findings of domestic and foreign scholars.Concepts and basic theories regarding integrated spatial design between institutional old-age care facilities and surrounding environment are systematically expounded.Next,demographic change trends of elders in the urban area of Xuzhou are examined,which suggests importance of institutional old-age care facilities.After that,the current relationship between institutional old-age care facilities and surrounding environment in old urban areas is investigated.Based on the investigation results,the problems and integration characteristics of the relationship between the two are summarized.This helps build an instructional framework of principles for integration between the two.Finally,strategies for integrated design between institutional old-age care facilities and surrounding environment are put forward.In order to verify validity of these strategies,case study is conducted to substantiate practical significance and feasibility of the integrated design strategies for organic combination between institutional old-age care facilities and the surrounding environment.This research aims at organically integrating institutional old-age care facilities with the surrounding environment so as to create a humanized and optimal aging living space for elders.It is also hoped that the contemporary planners and architects can strengthen their concept of integrated design between institutional old-age care facilities and the surrounding environment so that construction of a livable environment for elders can be accelerated. |
