As economic globalization and informatization of the times accelerate, people are increasingly influenced by internationalization.Meanwhile, along with the mutual integration between different regional cultures and customs, people know less about traditional culture and regional difference between different cities also declines. As the regional token of a city, landscape landmark plays a symbolic and guiding role.Nowadays, however, some landscape landmarks are excessively westernized, modernized, formalized and homogenized, thus leading to the "identical image of all cities" and the increasingly similar regional characteristics in different cities. To address this problem,it is necessary to revitalize traditional culture, rebuild the affinity of architectural culture, and improve urban cultural connotations in combination with regional characteristics from the fundamental perspective. Then,on this basis, the characteristics of regional and architectural culture should be integrated into landscape landmark design so that people can feel the sense of regional belonging and the sense of cultural identity.Firstly, based on the objective above, this paper pays a field visit to the traditional architecture in old towns and makes a case study on existing landscape landmarks of Wuhan in combination with the origin and characteristics of Jingchu culture. Then, this paper ascertains and summarizes the types of Jingchu plinth patterns, the deficiencies of existing landscape landmarks, and the characteristics of Jingchu culture and humanistic sprit, such as unity between man and nature, romance and impalpability, freedom and ebullience, decency and elegancy, and the courage to make breakthroughs.Secondly, the sorted Jingchu plinth patterns in old towns of Wuchang City are developed based on the combination of plinth patterns with the architectural characteristics of Chu culture such as high stylobate, deep eave and pitched roof. Then, the design techniques like continuous repetition, simplification and shape variation are used to produce different structures. In addition, these structures are decomposed, refined and reshaped from different angles such as pattern and shape, color collocation, material application and spatial layout to create new landscape landmarks that show the characteristics of traditional culture and meet modern aesthetic standards. Finally, according to ornamental and cultural landscape landmarks, the new landscape landmarks are screened for the purpose of presenting the landscape landmarks with different purposes and attributes.Meanwhile, the visual effects of landscape landmarks under the influence of different lighting, water and climate environments are created to reflect the formal beauty and cultural connotative beauty of landscape landmarks in different environments. On the premise of assimilating existing academic achievements, this paper endeavors to make full use of traditional Jinchu culture in order to find some design methods consistent with Jingchu's regional characteristics for existing urban landscape landmarks in the limited length of the paper. This aims to inherit historical context, integrate the characteristics of the times, and highlight regional cultural characteristics to propel forward the building of urban image.
