With the continuous development of satellite technology,the performance and function of single satellite has become increasingly difficult to meet the growing demand.The deployment of satellite clusters gradually becomes the direction of development,the single satellite miniaturization,reducing the cost and power consumption,and improving processing capability of onboard processor with heterogeneous architecture,networking between multiple satellites,these are helpful to achieve distributed computing and processing of satellites cluster.The current on-board processor mainly uses the PowerPC architecture in Europe,while Europe mainly uses the SPARC architecture.Our onboard processor mainly bases on the SPARC architecture,mainly BM3803 processor and the S698 processor,in addition,also Longstanding processor based on the architecture of domestic MIPS,However,as compared with foreign countries there are many gaps in domestic satellite processor performance,and the United States blockades technology of some high performance chips to our country,this shows that China's space industry has a long-term development still eeds great efforts.For the lack of processing power and backward technology,satellites can not achieve real-time processing of multi-source data in orbit and other difficult problems in the space-based system,so this paper researches on the development of space-based network universal service unit,uses COTS type ARM device as the core processing module,developes a set of general module of high reliability,high performance,low cost and miniaturization,to achieve satellite independent operation and resource operation with ground control center.First of all,through the comparative analysis of domestic and foreign development of the satellite network and the onboard processor architecture,this paper presents a networking universal service unit based on ARM architecture,which helps to realize the satellite of miniaturization,low cost,low power consumption and high performance;can be used for low orbit small satellite cluster.Then,it introduces the designing and analyzing of the system hardware scheme,selection of ARM processor,memory chips,and power module and design of peripheral interface.Then,according to the hardware scheme of the system,the hardware circuit is designed and implemented.Finally,the hardware debugging and the VxWorks operating system transplantation are carried out.
