Exploration On The Design Of Communication Space Under The Background Of Aging

With regarding to current social development in China,only by properly solving the problem of supporting the elderly can better promote social development.Under this circumstance,the pension programs and construction of supporting facilities focusing on relevant issues have been put on the agenda,of which senior citizen activity center is one of the important links.At present,China has paid attention to the study of facilities for the elderly,but it remains to be further improved.The research on the communication space of senior citizen activity center will provide some suggestions for the design of facilities for the elderly.Based on the starting point of designing the construction of senior citizen activity center,this thesis highlights the concept of “communication”in the design of activity center.As the carrier of communication,communication space plays the role of creating a suitable living and entertainment space for the elderly that can take care of themselves,so as to provide convenience for their contacts and exchanges.The enhancement of functionality and social attributes of communication space helps slow down the degradation in communicative behaviors of the elderly.By means of analyzing the physics,mentality and activity habits of the elderly,this thesis combines with the research on the classification of communication space for the elderly to summarize their activity features during communication.Meanwhile,integrated with barrier-free design and researches as well as applications of color and materials,a set of communication space theories suitable for the elderly and the method for designing their communication space are developed and integrated into the design of senior citizen activity center,so as to explore the ideal mode of future senior citizen activity center.On the basis of senior citizen activity center at Xiqiao Street,this thesis designs its overall layout and indoor communication space to construct an open,appropriate and diverse communication environment for the elderly with the expectation of providing new ideas for the design of future seniorcitizen activity center.
