Research On Calcination Furnace In Plutonium Conversion Intermittent Process

Plutonium Conversion is a key part of PUREX process,which converting the plutonium nitrate into plutonium dioxide.Calcination Furnace in Plutonium Conversion is used to convert intermediate product plutoniumoxalate into plutonium dioxide after drying and calcination.The development of Calcination Furnace in Plutonium Conversion Intermittent process is discussed in this paper.Layout of plutonium conversion equipments is introduced,as well as the parameter analysis of process and equipment,structure plan and dimension deduction is presented,as well as the control system,ventilation requirement and maintenance method.The heating and cooling test is finished,whose data is analysed by data fitting.Furthermore,numerical simulation for temperature field of calcinations furnace is made for two situations,with load and without load.According to feedback during design,manufacturing and experiment,some improvement of the furnace is made.This work could be used in improvement project of pilot reprocessing plant and200 t commercial reprocessing plant,as well as future nuclear projects.
