The drum wheel brake is a safe part of the truck,and the brake force is obtained by extruding the inside of the brake drum that is synchronously rotated with the wheel,so as to ensure the safety of the driving.However,when the heavy load truck runs on the long downhill bend section,the brake drum load is greatly increased because of frequent trample or continuous brakes,which leads to the phenomenon of heat decline,which leads to the drop of brake performance,and then increases the braking distance of the freight car,and makes the hidden danger to the driving belt of the large freight car.Taking the brake drum as the research object,the research on the real-time monitoring of the temperature of the brake drum is carried out to ensure that the temperature of the brake drum is controlled in the safe range and effectively reduces the heat decline of the braking efficiency.This has an important effect on the truck with drum brake.The main contents of the paper include the following aspects:First,starting from the principle and the braking process of the brake drum,it analyzes the links which may have abnormal conditions,and summarizes the main factors that affect the braking performance of the drum brake,including the three aspects of the wear amount of the brake shoe,the braking moment of the brake drum,the temperature of the brake drum and the friction surface,among which the temperature has the most influence.Second,the temperature rising model of brake drum and brake block with the most obvious change of temperature during the braking process of drum brake is studied in depth.Based on the braking failure criterion,the relation between the brake drum temperature of freight car and the speed of freight car and the braking distance is established by using the energy conservation theorem,and then the relationship between the temperature of the drum brake and the safety distance of the brake is deduced.Third,through the finite element analysis to identify the highest temperature region of drum brake in braking process.The geometric model of brake pad is set up to determine the location of brake pad's high temperature area.The distribution of temperature is further simulated by finite element simulation.Thus the highest temperature area on the brake drum is identified.Optimal placement for next step sensor.Finally,a real-time monitoring system for the brake drum temperature of large heavy duty freight cars is designed and manufactured.The system is installed on the test car for indoor test and outdoor real car test,and the infrared thermograph is used as the standard to compare the value of the indoor test.The two results are good.The real-time monitoring system of brake drum can alarm by sound and flash when the drum brake temperature reaches the preset temperature.Prompts the driver to slow down or pull over to have a rest.Wait for brake drum temperature to resume normal running temperature and then continue driving.So as to improve the safety of truck driving.Reduce the occurrence of traffic accidents.
