With the rapid development of China's economy,people's living standard has improved significantly.Consequently,it promotes the demand for cars to increase rapidly.Car makes people easier to travel,but it also increases the traffic pressure,especially the traffic congestion at urban area,the ancient downtown area and business district.With the speeding up of urbanization,various forms of urban traffic integrate gradually towards comprehensive transportation.Based on the development of rail transit in many cities,the parking and ride(P+R)system,as an effective control measure,began to get people's attention.It can effectively guide the private cars to rail transit,and increase the utilization rate of rail transit.By taking the advantage of large transport capacity and high speed of rail transit,the traffic pressure of urban district,the ancient downtown area and business district can be reduced.Thus traffic congestion is relieved,and the passing rate of ground road is increased.It is beneficial to optimizing urban traffic network,improving people's travel habits,and making the traveling of people quicker and more convenient.At present,in some developed European and American countries,the P+R system have already entered the development stage.Some large and medium-sized cities in China have started to study and develop the P+R system,in combination with the layout of the city's traffic system.Rail transit is the backbone of Suzhou's comprehensive traffic development planning.Based on this fact,this paper has combined various aspects of P+R system development in China,and focused on analyzing the feasibility and necessity of developing P+R system in Suzhou.The subjective feeling and travel attraction of P+R system are analyzed through the investigation of private car drivers in Suzhou.By selecting the discrete choice model of demand forecast for the transfer facilities,it establishes a multinomial logit model,and provides the solution and steps of this model.With the data of interviewing private car drivers' travelling,it has picked out the factors that influence the owners to choose P+R system.By using ‘Statistical Product and Service Solutions(SPSS)' software,this paper establishes demand forecast model of parking transfer between rail transit and private cars in Suzhou.
