Small kitchen products have the dual attributes of material and spiritual.With the improvement of the material living standards,small household kitchen products have become increasingly important in people’s lives.People are not only satisfied with the functional needs of small kitchen products,but also hope that they can satisfy people’s inner spiritual and emotional needs.Therefore,in this dissertation small kitchen products were used as a design carrier to investigate the mental and emotional needs of users of small kitchen products,design features were analyzed in instinct,behavior,and reflection levels,then design practice was conducted,in order to meet the emotional needs of users.At present,with the deepening of product homogeneity and cultural diversification,emotional design has gradually become one of the important research directions in the field of industrial design.This dissertation focuses on the emotional needs of home kitchen users.Based on the theory of emotional design and user needs,the connection between household kitchen products and kitchen users’ emotional intentions was studied,and the emotional design methods for small kitchen products was explored.This study is divided into five phases.Firstly,the research background,purpose and significance of the paper were summarized,and the importance of designing small kitchen products for household kitchens that meet the emotional needs of users was emphasized.Secondly,the theory of users and emotional needs was analyzed,the research scope of the thesis was defined,the theoretical foundation is laid,and user emotional needs system model is built.Thirdly,the theory of emotional needs was combined,and the design of small kitchen products was analyzed to find out the current situation and tendency of the emotional design of small kitchen products.Fourthly,the user’s psychological trends in the characteristics of home kitchen products and the investigation of the home use of kitchen products in the field were investigated.Specific design methods were proposed,including the design principles of instinct,behavior,and reflection.Finally,the user’s emotional demand model and related research findings are combined to conduct case design of the series of products and draw a design plan and design evaluation.The results show that the design method presented in the paper is correct,and the result of the design satisfies the emotional needs of the user and enhances the emotional experience.
