There are two columns of central symmetrical mounting holes on the rib plate inside a kind of missile launch tube with uneven pitch along the tube length.The missile launch tube is long and its internal space is narrow.It is very difficult to machining these holes.Conventional machining method is that operator positions and clamps a drilling jig on the rib plate first,and then climbs into the launch tube to drill holes manually with the electric hand drill.This machining method is poor efficiency,high labor intensity and harsh environmental conditions.To solve this problem,a set of portable automatic drilling device was designed with features of automatic positioning and feed,repeatable installation and usage.Based on the analysis on the processing conditions and requirements,a double drills synchronous machining scheme was proposed.The mechanical structures of the automatic drilling device including spindle drive mechanism,spindle feed mechanism,and linear positioning mechanism are designed.A synchronous toothed belt drive was adopted in the spindle drive mechanism.The synchronous rotation of the double drills is achieved by using a synchronous toothed belt structure in which a active toothed belt wheel and two driven toothed belt wheels positioned in a triangular distribution.The gas-liquid damping cylinder drive is chosen in the spindle feed mechanism to achieve the spindle automatic steady feed and quick retract.A rack and pinion linear driving module driven by a servo motor is used to position the spindle drive mechanism and spindle feed mechanism along the launch tube body direction.3D model of the launch tube automatic drilling device was designed by using Pro/Engineering software.The finite element analysis on some important structural components is carried out in ANSYS and HYPERMESH to optimize the structure of the device.The automatic drilling device is portable and easy to reuse.When drilling holes on the rib plate inside the missile launch tube,the whole device is positioned on the inner rib plate of the launch tube first,The automatic drilling process is realized by the program control of the control system.Not only the processing efficiency the processing conditions are improved,but the labor intensity of the operators is reduced.
