VR(Virtual Reality)optical system is an important form of application of the wide FOV(field of view)eyepiece system,which is characterized by its nice immersion and stereo vision.It is mainly used in many fields such as e-sports,virtual teaching,decoration design,teaching evaluation and so on.According to the characteristics of deflection angle of the visual axis of human eye,a four piece VR optical system with asymmetrical distribution FOV is studied in this paper.In this paper,the main design index requirements of the VR optical system with asymmetric FOV are analyzed based on human eye characteristics.The basic principle and optical structure of the VR optical system are also described.This paper analyzes the partial binocular overlap theory and the characteristics of FOV of the human eye,and provides the optical design ideology and design results of the VR optical system asymmetric FOV.According to the optical design requirements of the VR optical system,the choice of structural type about coaxial optical system with symmetric FOV is discussed and the appropriate initial optical structure is selected.Then the structure of the coaxial system which meets the design requirements is obtained by the optical design software ZEMAX.Utilize achromatic prisms and the optical design software ZEMAX,thus a VR optical system with symmetric FOV,compact structure and visual axis deflection is obtained through optimized design.Verify its machinability by tolerance analysis.Finally,according to the analysis of the optical parameters of this system structure,it was verified that the method of adding the achromatic prism meets the practical requirements.The optical system structure with the achromatic prism provides a non-symmetrical FOV of 45°+35°,a visual axis deflection angle of 5°,and a screen resolution of 1334×750pixels.The simulation results show that MTF values at nyquist frequency are better than0.1,the distortion within the 0.707 FOV is less than 10%,and the chromatic aberration also meets the requirement of human eye observation.Most of the structures use the plastic lenses and the merely add a prism and tolerance analysis results show that more than 90%of samples have a value of dropping 14.7% at the sampling MTF,the tolerance distribution is reasonable,thus the system is for easy processing and assembly.The design of the VR optical system with achromatic prism is innovative.It can achieve the visual axis deflection,increase the binocular FOV and compact structure. |
