Despite the lack of mechanical environmental control methods,traditional villages have used the passive technologies to create the comfortable living space.These strategies contains abundant technical technologies,they will be create more practical value for the current village construction,despite the homogeneity,high energy consumption one.The current research of passive strategy in traditional villages is mainly focused on the individual building,and research methods are mainly characterized by qualitative description and integration.The quantitative analysis from the group is really few.In this paper,Zhongxie village will be used as an example to study the availability of passive strategies.The research methods mainly apply the principles of climatology and architectural physics,as well as the principle of ventilation,SKF,valley wind and hillside rain,etc.Verify from the technical point.The study of traditional village’ passive strategies in Shaoxing will be divided into two parts: Firstly,the passive strategy is analyzed qualitatively from the two aspects of settlement and building;then,some of these strategies will be quantitatively tested.Compared to the typical hot summer and cold winter regions in China,Shaoxing is characterized by cold and rainy in winter and high temperature and humidity in summer.Therefore,the heat proof,ventilation,moisture-proof,rain-proof and anti-cold will be the most important climate adaptation target.According to the verification of the relevant principles,the villages have fully reflected the climate adaptability from the site layout to the building plane: Traditional feng shui site selection and enclosed pattern can create the comfortable valley wind within the village;The orientation of the village is consistent with the valley wind direction,which is conducive to the introduction of valley winds into the village;The layout features of large density,narrow streets make the space has better shade and ventilation effects;The building courtyard which external closed and internal transparency,conducive to the living space to create a better micro-climate environment,and so on.These passive environment construction strategies fully realize the energy saving of the village.Under the condition of no manual control technology,they can fully adapt to the local climatic conditions and create a comfortable living environment for the villagers.
