In the information era,with the rapid development of the global economy,consumption,a prevalent and prevailing cultural trend,has spread rapidly in our society.Meanwhile,people's values and lifestyles have changed continuously with it,and consumer's needs have also changed variously.Besides,social culture is one of the most basic determining elements of urban space,and thus consumption has also penetrated its various aspects.In recent years,the urban construction has flourished throughout China and the construction of commercial street has been an important part of urban construction.Therefore,there has been much attention from all aspects of the society paid to it.However,in the construction of commercial street,due to the investor's desire for quick success and instant benefits,and their over-idealization as well as the neglect of consumers' needs,commercial street has lacked multiple consumption patterns and the concern for people's spiritual need.There are similar problems in southern Shanxi which is the newly-developing area supported by China.This article aims at this area with the angle of consumption,using theoretical research and method of field research to analyze the current situation and problems of the commercial street's development in southern Shanxi.And through the study of typical cases in China,from the perspective of consumption this paper discusses the suitable developmental design strategies for the commercial street in southern Shanxi.Furthermore,these strategies are demonstrated through practical projects.The article has four parts.The first part mainly discusses the research background and object,and sorts relevant domestic and foreign document literature that relate to research content,as well as defines the purpose and significance of the research.The second part studies the natural environment,cultural history,and architectural culture in southern Shanxi,and summarizes the essence of traditional culture of southern Shanxi and some parts that can be applicable to the creation of commercial street environment.In the third part,through field research and questionnaire survey,it sorts the development stages and features of commercial streets in southern Shanxi under the impact of consumer culture,as well as the basic situation of the consumers.Furthermore,this part concludes the existing problems and the causes.It also investigates the cases of contemporary typical commercial streets in China,analyzing their design features,consumer structure and people's behavioral characteristics,and exploring consumer psychological needs in the presentconsumption environment,which are the basis for subsequent research.Based on the previous parts' analysis,the fourth part does the further analysis of the environmental features of southern Shanxi from four aspects,namely space,perception experience,interactive design and cultural construction.And from the current consumption perspective,it puts forward the corresponding design strategies for the development of commercial street in southern Shanxi,and also explores the appropriate future operation patterns.What's more,it analyzes the practical project of Hanzhong Nanguan Commercial Street as a case study in order to further demonstrate the feasibility of the conclusion and strategies.Finally,it would provide some reference for the design of commercial street in local and other similar areas.
