A Research On Strategy Of Urban Catalysts In Revitalizing Old Districts In Old Cities

With the accelerating process of domestic urbanization,land resources are becoming increasingly tense,prompting the old city to become a new round of development targets.However,the old city districts have been remodeled mainly in the form of big demolishment and construction projects.The old districts have given rise to a certain improvement in the material environment while at the same time they have paid a huge price for the destruction of historical culture and place spirit.How to balance the relationship between historical and cultural protection and renewed development in the old districts is worthy of our consideration.Urban catalysis theory advocates the strategic introduction of new elements or the rejuvenation of old elements,reshaping new life while achieving the role of revitalizing the surrounding area.This theory has provided new ideas for the protection and activation of the old city districts.The author first sorts out the related research on rejuvenation and the theory of urban catalysis in the old city districts,and explains the feasibility and necessity of the continued expansion of this topic in the existing research foundation.Then in Chapter 3,urban catalyst theory with the renewal of old districts are combined for discussion.First,based on the theory of urban catalysts,the cases of renewal in Xintiandi and Taipingqiao districts in Shanghai,Die Hackeschen Hofe in Berlin and Spandauer Vorstadt is discussed.Then the theory of urban catalysts in response to the revival of the old districts and old districts is analyzed,and propose the rejuvenation of old urban districts.The elements,application perspectives,and application principles of the catalysts in cities and cities,and the application mechanism of urban catalysts,namely these three steps:"choose original catalysts,shape catalyst media,control and guide catalytic reactions".In the chapter 4,according to the three steps of the application mechanism of urban catalysts,the specific practical methods of each step are summarized and explained in turn,and the cases are discussed and illustrated.This process solves the problem of the application of urban catalyst strategies to three levels in specific practices:how to choose the original catalyst?What are the shaping and perfect methods for the old city renewal problem and the original catalyst for different situations to make it play a catalytic role?What are the methods of controlling and guiding catalyst reactions?Through the application strategies of urban catalysts summarized in this chapter,the urban catalyst theory can guide the specific urban development process,laying the ground for the next step to be applied to practical projects.Finally,the author applies the urban catalyst strategy to research of the Old Cross district District in the Old City of Hefei by summarizing in the development,in order to solve the problems encountered during researching and explore the ideas and methods for the catalytic revival of the Hefei Old Cross District.
