Interpreting The Meaning Of Architectural Works Of URBANUS By The Theory Of Iconology

As an organic whole,architectural history,architectural theory and architectural criticism have become the theoretical basis of architectural design,and point out potential development directions of architecture.In the process of architectural criticism,scholars have adopted different methods and perspectives of commentary based on the characteristics of architectural works.There is no unified comment format in architectural criticism.As a method of commentary on art history and art works,iconology is a complete evaluation system.It analyzes the work from three levels,from shallow to deep,and gradually deepens from the form of the work to the intrinsic meaning.This thesis will study how to apply the iconoloy method to architectural analysis to provide a complete analysis method for the interpretation of architectural meaning.As a part of contemporary visual culture and important part of urban and social functions,architecture has an intrinsic meaning in the form.The architectural works of URBANUS have various forms and rich visual experiences,but under these various forms,they share common cultural meanings and social values.Behind the building,there is an era and a geographical feature and culture,as well as the individual concept of the architect.Only in-depth analysis can discover these hidden meanings.This thesis hopes to analyze the architectural works of URBANUS one by one by using iconology methods to reveal the social and cultural implications behind these works.The main content of this thesis is divided into three parts,from the theory to the method,to the application of the method.The first part adopts the method of historical research,sorts out the history of the development of iconoly,discusses the method of iconoly,and studies the influence of the iconology on architectural criticism.The second part adopts the method of logical reasoning to analyze how to apply the method of iconology method to the analysis of architectural works,and focuses on the object of interpretation and the principle of interpretation of architectural iconology.In the third part,the case study method was used to analyze the five architectural works of URBANUS with the method of iconology,including the environmental renew design of the Wulong Temple in Rucheng,Shanxi Province,Tangshan City Exhibition Museum and Park in Hebei Province,and Jiading “Now Factory” Creative Park in Shanghai,Foshan Tulou Public House and Shenzhen OCT LOFT in Guangdong.After applying the method of iconology to the analysis of architectural works,it is found that the theory of iconology can provide a complete evaluation method for architectural criticism.The original analysis principles of iconology are also valid in the context of architectural analysis.Through the analysis of URBANUS works,it is found that its works are closely linked to the themes of local cities and contemporary development,and its architectural works have an impact on cities and society.At the same time,their architectural works also reflect the social and cultural implications of their environment.Finally,the study also provides an effective reference for applying the iconology method to other architectural criticism.
