In the 19 th century, the development of railway construction in the western United States and the western cities had a great development. The first railroad across North America was the “United Pacific Railway-Central Pacific Railway” on May 10,1869 in Promontory,Utah. In the more than 20 years, four successive transcontinental railroads were completed. They were the North Pacific Railway built in 1883,the Santa Fe Railway built in 1885,the South Pacific Railway built in 1887,and the Great Northern built in 1893.railway.The five major railways, which total 70,000 miles long, are scattered throughout the western states, and are accompanied by a myriad of branch lines, reaching deep into the western hinterland and even every corner. The construction of the transcontinental railway has a huge relationship with the development of western cities. The full text is divided into the following sections:The first part has two aspects. One is to introduce the general situation of the construction of American railways in the 19 th century and its impact on the U.S.economy.In 1850,the American Railways developed in New York State, inland in the west, and in the south, and gradually became the major artery for the development of the West. This has profoundly affected the development of the US economy. The second is the introduction of emerging cities in the process of introducing the westward movement of the United States. Most cities in the western part of the United States have grown up with the colonization of the western regions. They mainly include the animal husbandry kingdom represented by “Niuzhen”,“mining towns” that rise in the far west, and towns that are a “speculative enterprise”.And the four types of cities,"Railway Towns," which rise with the extension of railways. The second part analyzes the relationship between the transcontinental railway and the different types of cities in the western United States from a macro perspective. The western part of the United States is vast and relatively backward. The advancement of railways has promoted the transformation of different types of cities, and has also profoundly affected the construction and reform of municipalities in western cities and towns. At the same time, the rise and development of these different types of cities in the west constitute an important part of the process of urbanization in the west, and railwaysplay a direct and indirect role in promoting this aspect. The third part discusses the development relationship between the transcontinental railways and the different types of cities in the west. The railway towns are due to the rise of railway construction and are a direct result of railway construction. Therefore,in this section, only the railway between the bull towns in the Great Plains, the mining towns in the far west, and the towns as speculative companies will be discussed separately. As for the relationship,it is necessary to explore the positive impact, but at the same time,we must analyze the negative effects of transcontinental railways on different types of cities.
