The horizontal cylinder structure is a new type of foundation structure which is suitable for the construction of breakwater and cofferdam on the soft soil foundation.The structure is composed of the main cylinder structure,the two side wings and the retaining wall.Its length and thickness of the wing and retaining wall can be adjusted according to practical requirements.At present,the main types of breakwaters are gravitational vertical embankment,riprap slope,semi-cylindrical breakwater and caisson pier.All the above types of breakwaters have mature design methods and proven techniques,it is too long for construction period of gravitational breakwaters.In addition,it needs large amount of stone and it must take steps for a series of equal construction process such as base trench dredging,bed riprapping,bed compaction and bed leveling,so it is not conducive to reduce engineering cost.The horizontal cylinder is a thin-walled structure,it has large width and light weight and its additional pressure to the foundation is small.The gravity of the structure can transfer to deep foundation soil because structure of the central has certain depth.The cohesive force provided by the shallow soft soil can maintain the horizontal sliding stability of the structure,and consistent with the sustainable development of economic philosophy because of its reuse.First of all,in this article,we get the horizontal cylinder structure failure modes and stress distribution through physical model experiment,and comparing the measured value of the experiment with the ABAQUS simulation,the finite element ABAQUS Mohr-Coulomb model is able to accurately simulate the horizontal cylinder structure by adjusting the model parameters.Secondly,based on the finite element software of ABAQUS,combined with the tianjin port breakwall and cofferdams project,the finite element model of the horizontal cylinder structure has been built,numerical simulation was made for each level of the three kinds of mud surface,and the structure of the basement of stress,earth pressure and displacement of structure is analyzed,it is concluded that the horizontal cylinder structure buckling failure mechanism.Finally,consulting gravity structure stability calculation method,the simplify calculation method of horizontal cylinder structure is proposed according to the theory of limit equilibrium stability,comparing the data in the model with the data of simplified method,the stability of the simplified algorithm is corrected so that it is suitable for horizontal cylinder structure calculation,and the original design size is optimized,it is concluded that the optimal section size,the analysis shows that the horizontal cylinder structure can save cost.This article combines experiments with engineering for the stability of the horizontal cylinder structure analysis and finite element simulation of actual engineering,the horizontal cylinder structure simplification algorithm is proposed,and the structure size is optimized,the results obtained for the promotion of the horizontal cylinder structure is of great significance.
