In recent years,China's economy has maintained rapid growth,and its economic aggregate has ranked second in the world.At the same time,the rapid economic development has also brought about a series of problems such as resource depletion,environmental pollution,and ecological deterioration.The pressure on resources and the environment has been increasing.It has become an important factor hindering China's economic and social development.Green credit,as a new financing model,eases the contradiction between economic development and environmental protection.Commercial banks,as the main force in promoting green development in the financial system,playing an important role in optimizing the allocation of funds and assuming corporate social responsibility,and are the main executors of green credit policies.The operation of commercial banks has a very close relationship with the effectiveness of green credit development,which determines the effectiveness of the implementation of green credit policies;and the differences in the micro-characteristics of each commercial bank make the bank's operating performance have a heterogeneous impact on green credit.From the perspective of bank heterogeneity,this article studies the relationship between commercial banks' operating performance and green credit,and discusses how different types of commercial banks can formulate green credit business development strategies in a targeted manner according to their own operating conditions.The research content of this article is mainly from the following aspects: firstly,based on the existing research,the three concepts of bank heterogeneity,green credit and bank operating performance are elaborated,and the related concepts and theoretical basis are clarified;secondly,the commercial bank operating performance and the relationship between green credit is analyzed on the interactionmechanism between the two;finally,this paper uses the panel data of twelve commercial banks from 2008 to 2018 to establish a measurement model,and on this basis,the greenperformance of commercial banks empirical analysis of the impact of credit heterogeneity.The empirical results show that the current and lagging operating performance of commercial banks have a positive role in promoting green credit;and from the perspective of bank heterogeneity,both state-owned commercial banks and joint-stock commercial banks have a positive impact on green credit regardless of current or lagging operating performance.Finally,based on the results of empirical research,this paper puts forward suggestions on how commercial banks can better balance corporate social responsibility and economic benefits when developing green credit business.
