Fluorite is a significant non-metallic mineral and it is an indispensable raw material for industrial production. The bad low temperature resistance of traditional fluorite flotation reagents fatty acids leads to low recovery rate of fluorite flotation and waste of resources. Therefore, the research and development demand of fluorite flotation collectors with good low temperature resistance and high efficiency are increasingly urgent.Sodium petroleum sulfonate has been widely used in mineral foam flotation.Aiming at the huge difference in the collection performance of petroleum sodium sulfonate with different structures and components, taken fluorite pure mineral and actual mineral as research objects, the flotation behavior of fluorite was studied under sodium petroleum sulfonate system with different pharmaceutical parameters.Combined with mineral quantum chemistry calculation, and by means of infrared spectroscopy analysis, zeta potential tests, surface tension tests and contact angle measurements, the surface properties of fluorite crystal were analyzed, and the mechanism of sodium petroleum sulfonate acting on the mineral surface was explored.Pure fluorite mineral had good flotability under neutral to weak alkaline conditions.Ethanol in the flotation system could improve the flotation recovery of fluorite by increasing the dispersion degree of collector in water and playing the role of foaming agent. The test results showed that the higher the content of sodium petroleum sulfonate, the higher the flotation recovery of fluorite pure mineral and the better the flotation collection performance of the reagent. With the sulfonation degree of sodium petroleum sulfonate increasing, the steric hindrance effect of organic end of molecule decreased, and the hydrophobicity of fluorite surface decreased due to the action of water molecule, therefore the collecting effect of sodium petroleum sulfonate became worse. When the content of active substance and sulfonation degree of sodium petroleum sulfonate changed simultaneously, the changing of active substance content played a dominant role in the flotation effect of collector. The more aromatic hydrocarbons in the raw oil,the better the flotation performance of the reagent.Taking PSK24-29 sodium petroleum sulfonate as collectors, the flotation recovery of fluorite pure mineral and actual mineral had the same rule, and PSK-27 as collector had the largest recovery of CaF2.The fluorite flotation concentrate with 97.45%grade and 89.54%recovery of CaF2 could be obtained through the open circuit process. The fluorite mineral surface was hydrophilic.Sodium petroleum sulfonate could improve the wetting angle and the hydrophobicity of fluorite particles.Meanwhile sodium petroleum sulfonate could remarkably reduce the surface tension of flotation system and enhance the foaming ability.Sodium petroleum sulfonate could adsorp on fluorite surface by physical and chemical action. Moreover, petroleum sulfonate could observably reduce the surface Zeta potential of fluorite particles, increase the electrostatic repulsion between mineral particles, and increase the probability of adhesion between particles and foam. The result was that the flotation recovery rate improved.Quantum chemistry calculation of mineral crystal showed that after fracture F-Ca is ionic bond, and the band gap width indicated that fluorite belonged to insulator. The fluorite?111?surface had the lowest energy, and it had the maximum possibility and stability to be exposed in the dissociation process, which was in accordance with the powder diffraction results to a certain extent. Therefore, the adsorption and action of sodium petroleum sulfonate are mainly carried out on the?111?surface of fluorite.
