As one of the main and traditional building structure in China,adobe is still widely distributed in most villages and towns in China.The adobe houses have the advantages of energy saving,humidity control,ventilation and adaptability to local conditions,but they also have shortcomings such as uneven design and construction quality and insufficient safety performance.This has led to serious damage to the adobe houses after the earthquake.The performance of various aspects of traditional adobe can not meet the need of modern construction.Based on the previous research of the research group,this paper further optimized the modern new mechanical adobe brick and its applicable mortar,which provided a certain reference for the current imperfect adobe test standard and design.The main research contents are as follows:(1)Through the optimization of the proportion and size of the mechanical adobe brick,an adobe brick with suitable dimensions、high productivity and good performance for modern construction was developed.The water absorption of different time,compressive strength and softening performance have been tested,through observing its failure characteristics,its compressive strength and softening coefficient were obtained.(2)Through optimizating the mortar applicated to the mechanical adobe brick,based on cement mortar and cement-lime mixed mortar,four cement-lime modified mortars,11 cement modified mortars and a soil-based mortar with a small amount of binder were designed as the comparison.The mechanism of action,the compressive strength,flexural strength and compressive ratio were determined and the influence for different ratios of sand,different types of admixtures and dosage were analyzed.(3)A total of 57 masonry specimens were designed with modified mortar,Which have eighteen sets each has three,and the shear strength test of the masonry was carried out.By observing the test process failure,according to the different interface of the masonry,the damage forms were classified and summarized.According to the test results,the applicability of the special mortar was summarized and optimized.The calculation formula for the shear strength of the optimized adobe brick masonry is fitted.(4)Three axial compression specimens were prepared by using two modified mortars with good bonding performance,one as the comparison neglecting bonding,seven in total.By observing the test failure,the damage characteristics were summarized.According to the compressive stress-strain curve of the masonry,the relevant parameters such as its modulus of masonry elasticity and Poisson’s ratio were obtained,and the formula for calculating the compressive strength of the optimized adobe brick masonry was fitted.The research results show that the optimized effect of mechanical adobe brick and applicable mortar is better,and the working mechanism and principle of the mortar used for this kind of block are simply expounded,which provides an important reference value for the application and design research of the optimized adobe brick.
