The Application Of Thermoplastic Polyurethane Fabric In Womenswear Design

The sustainable development of clothing dates back to the 1940 s during World War II.Due to the shortage of materials,the waistline became tightened in grament,the length of the skirt became shortened and the tailoring method named ‘box cut' appeared.That design aimed to control the amount of fabric required to make the garment and reduce the waste of the remaining fabric.In addition to,achieving sustainable development in the structure of clothing,there are also study in the same direction on fabrics,such as plant dyed fabrics,new environmentally-friendly fabrics,and so on.Among these many new fabrics,thermoplastic polyurethane fabrics are recognized publicly as a green,environmentally-friendly fabric composed of new polymers with excellent performance.At present,the scope and frequency of its application in the field of clothing is gradually expanding.The theoretical research method of this project is collecting and reading the literature and papers which is about environmentally friendly fashion design and thermoplastic polyurethane fabric.Then summarizing the origin,productive process,characteristic,purpose of thermoplastic polyurethane fabric and researching the cases of applying thermoplastic polyurethane fabric to environmentally friendly fashion design to analyze and summarize the various expression technique,explore and understand the basic background,market status and future trend of this research object.In the field of clothing,sustainable development is one of the inevitable future trends.As a new environment-friendly material,thermoplastic polyurethane is of certain exploration and experimental value.At present,some designers and brands focus on the practical application of thermoplastic polyurethane fabric,and they have made reforms on the external visual effect and development concept of clothing.Through observing and sorting out its application characteristics,in the practical operation of this research project,various expression techniques and experiments were used to apply thermoplastic polyurethane fabric in garment design to realize the personalized clothing with unique appearance,and trying to find new visual effects while conveying the concept of sustainable fashion.Through theoretical research and practical research,it is found that thermoplastic polyurethane fabric has great wearing characteristics.Compared with PVC,thermoplastic polyurethane is optimized in all aspects,especially in environmental protection.Therefore,it is favored in many fields,and clothing and accessory account for the largest proportion.This material also has a variety of ways to connect,in addition to sewing,but also can use hot melting.Its performance of hot melting is different from the general fabric properties.As a new type of fabric,thermoplastic polyurethane still has a lot of research space in the field of clothing.In the future fashion design,under the concept of environmental protection,advanced technology will be used to produce more garments and fabrics which are friendly to the ecological environment.
