Development And Impact Of Coal Industry In Jungar Banner Since The Foundation Of The People’s Republic Of China

Based on a comprehensive review of coal development,migrant migration and regional urban development in Jungar,this article discusses in detail the process of exploration,development,and modernization transformation of the Jungar coalfield since the foundation of the People’s Republic of China,combining historical documents and field investigation materials.At the same time,it reveals the social change process of Xuejiawan from the backward village to the current emerging town due to the development of Jungar coalfield.Try to use this research as a supplement to the research on the interaction between the coal industry and the localities in the Jungar Banner,provide a typical case for the urbanization process in Inner Mongolia since the founding of the People’s Republic of China,and provide useful historical experience for the development of northern resource-based towns.Jungar Banner is located in the southwestern part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region,and is rich in coal resources.From the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China,the Jungar coalfield was mainly small-scale and decentralized mining organized by non-governmental organizations.Constrained by mining policies,transportation factors and mining technology,the local coal production method was relatively backward and the output was small.Development of the coal industry is relatively backward.In the early days of the founding of the People’s Republic of China,with the continuous development of the national economy,the domestic coal resources have been in short supply,which has provided new development opportunities for Jungar Banner.With the support of relevant national and local policies,the Jungar coalfield has undergone preliminary exploration,formal project establishment,and three stages of transformation and development.From the 1950 s to the 1980 s,according to the geological exploration report of Jungar coalfield,it is known that the Jungar coalfield is one of the important energy reserve bases in China,which is of great significance to alleviate the shortage of domestic coal resources.Around 1986,the State Council approved the establishment of the Jungar Coalfield Construction Project,which is the first phase of the Jungar Project,including a comprehensive construction project of coalmine,power station and roads.With the introduction and cultivation of advanced equipment and technical personnel,the Jungar coalfield industry under the modern company management system has not only realized the leap-forward development of coal industry development and management,but also promoted the transition from the poverty banner county to the modernization of the Jungar banner,which has completely changed the local poverty and backward society.The article will start from the perspective of regional social history,take the interaction between Jungar coalfield and local society as an entry point,adopt field research methods,interview local residents and retired workers in coalfield construction,and start out Questionnaire survey on the social impact of the construction of the Jungar coalfield on Xuejiawan Town.Combining the oral data and the statistical data of the questionnaire,it further presents the town development history of Xuejiawan,where the Jungar coalfield is located.Driven by the construction of the Jungar coalfield,local businesses,services,and township enterprises have developed rapidly.A large number of immigrant groups have gathered in Xuejiawan Town,which has promoted the rise and development of a new industrial town,Xuejiawan Town,which has driven the local Changes in the residents ’social life and have enhanced the exchange and integration of immigrants and local ethnic groups.In terms of ecological governance,has led to changes in the social life of local residents and enhanced exchanges and integration between immigrants and local ethnic groups.Jungar coalfield adheres to the principle of "emphasis on coal and ecological construction" and actively adopts protective governance measures to promote the comprehensive treatment of regional ecological environment.With the joint efforts of all nationalities the Jungar Banner,Xuejiawan eventually evolved from a traditional village in the past into a characteristic industrial town with a certain scale.
