Research On Ecological Feminism Of Carolyn Merchant

As the main representative of ecofemism,Carolyn Merchant takes the liberation of women and the solution of ecological crisis as her goals and calls for the establishment of a new relationship between human and nature.Her theoretical thoughts have exerted a wide influence on the world.An in-depth study of Merchant's ecofeminism ethics can provide a new perspective for solving gender ethical and ecological problems.By using comparative research,historical analysis and interdisciplinary research methods,this paper studies the background,source,connotation of thought,evaluation and enlightenment of Merchant's ecofeminism.Under the guidance of deep ecology,western feminist theory,Marxist ecological view and female view,Merchant inherited and developed ecofeminist thought,sharply criticized binary oppositional thinking,western patriarchy and androcentrism,and emphasized the concern for women and nature.This paper makes a deep analysis of the return of organic view of nature advocated by Merchant's ecofeminism.This paper discusses the value of women and nature and points out the essence of sex difference weakening.This paper analyzes the ethics of ecocentrism and the relationship of partnership ethics.Merchant's ecofeminism thought has rich connotation and distinct scientific and time value,and it is of great contribution to the development of ecofeminist thought.However,there are some disputes on the relevance between women and nature and the improvement of women's status.The thought is utopian and shows the unique limitations of Merchant's ecofeminism.In a word,Merchant's ecofeminism is a new and rich ideological theory,which promotes the localization of its rationality in China,has certain enlightenment significance for breaking the shackling of patriarchy and promoting women's social participation,and also provides a new perspective for the construction of ecological civilization in China.
