Study On The Strategies Of Importing LNG In CNPC

Increasing attention to environmental problems has led to the continuous optimization of international energy structure.Natural gas has incomparable advantages over new energy in terms of reserves and availability.Meanwhile,it is superior to traditional energy such as coal and oil in carbon emissions.Increasing the use of natural gas has become an important method to ease the tension between energy supply and environmental protection.Natural gas production in China is insufficient,and China needs to meet its consumption demand by importing natural gas.Imported pipeline gas is less flexibility than imported LNG due to geopolitical factors,so imported LNG receives more and more attention.CNPC,as one of the three major oil and gas manufacturers in China,has shown a positive attitude in LNG import business.The study of CNPC’s LNG import strategy is of great significance to CNPC’s operation and China’s energy security.This paper takes the LNG import business of CNPC as the research object.The focus is the development status of CNPC’s LNG import business and future import strategies.Firstly,this paper introduces basic theories,such as the PEST,the Michael Porter five forces model,value chain,the basic concepts of pricing and trade involved in LNG import,to construct the theoretical basis of the article.Then,from the perspectives of China’s natural gas industry’s development of macroeconomic and economic environment,value chain of CNPC’s import business and industrial competition,this paper analyzes the market prospect,competitive position and value acquisition ability of CNPC’s LNG import business,and find four major problems-management efficiency,import costs,emergency response capabilities and bargaining power.Moreover,after the adjustment of the key points of CNPC LNG imports under different circumstances,the design scheme of process reengineering and organizational adjustment of CNPC’s LNG import business are put forward.Meanwhile,aim to obtain corporate profits,this article optimizes the process and organization of CNPC’s LNG import business.In order to enhance the efficiency of CNPC in LNG import business,after analyzing the key adjustments of CNPC’s LNG imports under the two scenarios,CNPC’s LNG import strategy are formulated in five aspects: import timing judgment,import country selection,import quantity determination,import price formulation and import contract portfolio.Finally,LNG import strategy implementation proposal is proposed.
