A Convex Concave Application Of Mortise And Tenon Structure In Garment Design

Mortise and tenon structure is the crystallization of Chinese people’s wisdom,it has a long history and profound cultural deposits.Mortise and tenon joint structure is unique in its connection way,without a nail with a riveting two components can be connected to the disassembling,and it also has good with mortise and tenon joint structure inspired by combining modern design language,used in the clothing design and innovation,and the excellent traditional culture inheritance and development and to add new design language,costume design is the purpose of this graduation design.First,I studied and learned by collecting historical materials related to mortise and tenon structures,treatises,works in the field of clothing and other fields,and extracted and redesigned the research results.Then,by studying the internal structure of the mortise and tenon structure,the representative mortise and tenon structure is selected and applied to the garment design.On the basis of experiments,different materials were used to achieve the mortise and tenon shape,which was transferred to my graduation project.Two major features of mortise and tenon tenon structures attract me to combine them with the language of costume design: first,the sculptural sense of mortise and tenon structures.By applying this shape to costume design,the garment works can have visual impact and mortise and tenon structures can be presented in a new way.The second is the dismountable characteristic of mortise and tenon structure.The dismountable characteristic of mortise and tenon structure is transformed and applied to the contact point of each component of the garment to transform and reorganize the garment style so as to present the new effect of garment modeling.I combined the mortise and tenon structure with the current fashion,and designed the design work from the aspects of silhouette,fabric,details and technology,which not only meets the current aesthetic needs but also contains the traditional cultural symbols of the nation.As the soul of ancient architecture and wooden furniture,mortise and tenon structure is now also wonderful,mortise and tenon shape expressed by clothing materials and the mortise and tenon dismountable characteristics combined with clothing design,is a kind of inheritance and development of traditional culture.The yin-yang complementarity of mortise and tenon structure and the philosophical implication of the coexistence of virtual and real are the pursuit of the philosophical meaning of the coexistence of virtual and real when applied to clothing design.
