Research On The Application Of Horsetail Embroidery Of Shui In Modern Jewelry Design

Today,with the globalization,the contemporary society shows a diversified development due to the fusion of traditional and modern cultures.Artworks,painting,clothing,music,dance and other art works all indicate the creativity brought by the combination of national and modern cultures.As the treasure precipitated for thousands of years,ethnic culture has profound cultural foundation and unique humanistic spirit.It is not only protected and inherited but also explored and created.Located in the southeast of Guizhou Province,Sandu Shui Autonomous County in Guizhou Province is the only Shui autonomous county in China.The Shui has its own spoken and written languages(Shui calligraphy),in which horsetail embroidery is the traditional folk handicraft art which is inherited by Shui women from generation to generation.On May 20,2006,it was listed in the first national nonmaterial cultural heritage lists.Under the national protection,it should have more development opportunities.However,due to various reasons,its development is not ideal,and its popularity is not as great as other embroideries,leading to the low usage and purchase rate.In view of this situation,the paper makes an in-depth survey and research on horsetail embroidery,changes the Shui's protection concept of static protection to dynamic protection and seizes the opportunities from the perspective of cultural innovation to make the innovative research on jewelry design by using the horsetail embroidery patterns and technique of Shui.The collision of traditional folk culture and modern culture collision can create unique effect.The cultural creativity of jewelry series by mutual integration,absorption and reconstruction of horsetail embroidery and Miao's silver ornaments combines the modern concept with traditional ethnic culture while searching and finding inspirations,and take modern jewelry as the medium to make the products with distinct national characteristics and the breath of modern culture as well.The structure of the traditional and modern cultures is performed in the most modern way and then reflected in the way accepted by the modern society.Along with the development of the times,the progress of science and technology and the improvement of innovation consciousness,the original ethnic culture needs multiple cultures to join in to make it better recognized in the world.The paper first introduces the general situation,historical and cultural background and forms of artistic expression of horsetail embroidery through the overview to have a comprehensive knowledge of it.Then,it explores its patterns,technique transformation and the fusion of Miao silver ornaments.Thirdly,it expounds the charm created by the combination of horsetail embroidery and modern jewelry through design drawings,material and technique expression and finished products based on the theory.Finally,it draws a conclusion that the art can have a sense of beauty and value with the cultural heritage.The application of horsetail embroidery and Miao silver ornaments in jewelry design has certain innovation.It is of certain significance to jewelry design and development based on the traditional culture.
