Preparation And Solvent Absorption Properties Of Porous Fluorinated Poly (Methacrylate-Divinylbenzene) Materials

Abstract/Summary:
Porous polymer materials have broad application prospects in catalyst carriers,immobilization and separation of proteins,energy storage materials,gas adsorbents,organic pollutant adsorption and detection,and so on.Fluoropolymers have many excellent properties,such as high chemical resistance,high thermal stability,low surface energy and good hydrophobicity,etc.which are widely used in aerospace,medical and health care,petrochemical and other fields.Porous fluoropolymer materials retain the excellent physical and chemical properties of fluoropolymer materials,but also have porosities.It is expected to significantly expand the application of fluorinated polymer materials.In this thesis,a solvothermal method was adopted to prepare porous fluorinated poly methacrylate-divinyl benzene(PFpMDB)monolith materials.The effects of solvent type and dosage on the synthesis as well as the absorption properties for solvent of the prepared PFpMDB were investigated.The research content of the thesis mainly includes the following:1)Porous fluorinated poly methacrylate-divinyl benzene(PFpMDB)monolith materials were synthesized by using 2-(perfluorohexyl)ethyl methacrylate(TEMAc-6)as the fluorous monomer and divinylbenzene(DVB)as the cross-linking agent through a solvothermal method in autoclaves.The effects of solvent of ethyl acetate,2-Acetoxy-1-methoxypropane(PMA),1,1,1,2,3,4,4,5,5,5-decafluoro-3-methoxy-2-trifluoromethylpentane(HFE-7300),PMA/HFE-7300 on the synthesis of fluoropolymers were studied.The resulting porous fluoropolymers were characterized by various techniques,such as infrared spectrograph(IR),nitrogen adsorption and desorption,scanning electron microscope(SEM),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and thermogravimetric analysis(TG).The results showed that when ethyl acetate was used as the solvent,the specific surface area of the synthesized PFpMDB gradually decreases when increasing the amount of fluorous monomer.When the ratio of TEMAc-6 to DVB reaches up to 1,the porosity of the product disappeared.At this ratio,while using HFE-7300 as the solvent,the prepared fluoropolymer regained porosity.The water contact angle of the prepared porous fluoropolymer materials could reach up to 155°,indicating that the materials had strong hydrophobicity.TG analysis proved that the materials had good thermal stability.The solvent absorption experiments of porous fluoropolymer material were found to show good absorption performance to fluorine solvent,and the equilibrium absorption amount could be up to 10.3 g/g,illustrating the fluorophilicities of the materials.The materials showed good recyclability,confirmed by the evidence that almost no decay in equilibrium absorption was found during several cycles.2)Porous fluorinated poly methacrylate-divinyl benzene(PFpMDB)monolith materials were synthesized by using 2-(perfluorohexyl)ethyl methacrylate(TEMAc-6),divinylbenzene(DVB)and 1-ethoxy-1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,4-nonafluorobutane(HFE-7200)as fluorous monomer,cross-linking agent and solvent,respectively.The effects of the amount of solvent and the ratio of monomer to crosslinking agent on the synthesis of fluoropolymer were investigated.The obtained porous fluoropolymer was characterized by various techniques,such as IR,nitrogen adsorption desorption,SEM,TG,etc.The results showed that as the amount of solvent HFE-7200 decreased or the dosage of DVB increased,the specific surface area and pore volume of the synthesized PFpMDB increased slightly.The water contact angle of the prepared porous fluoropolymer materials can reach up to 154°,indicating that the materials had strong hydrophobicity.The absorption of toluene,HFE-7200,isopropanol and chloromethane of porous polymer materials was studied,indicating that the optimized PFpMDB materials showed good fluorophilic adsorption.The equilibrium absorption of HFE-7200 could be up to 10.6 g/g.With the increase of dosage of solvent and DVB,the absorption of fluorinated polymer materials to fluorous solvents decreased slightly.After several cycles,no decrease of the equilibrium absorption was observed,showing good recycling performance.
