With the enhancement of global awareness of environmental protection and energy conservation,countries and regions have introduced green tire laws and regulations,European ece-r117,labeling law,north American Smartway,Chinese labeling law and so on.The development of low roll resistance and low energy consumption tires has become a trend.Against this background we received a demand from the north American market to develop a 445/50R22.5 tyre to replace two 295/75R22.5 tyres.This paper introduces the research and design process and scheme of 445/50R22.5 specification.Structural design:According to the balanced internal contour design theory and combined with the analysis of competitive products,the design was carried out from the inside out,and the internal contour was determined by the finite element simulation optimization,and the external contour was determined by the material distribution.The products's sidewall width 445mm,the driving wheel tire's design external diameter is 1008mm,the width of the tire pattern is 390 mm,and the crown arc height is 12.5 mm.The trailer tire design's external diameter is 1008mm,the width of the tire pattern is 385 mm,and the crown arc height is 12.5 mm,too.The driving pattern tyre has 7 zigzger pattern groove,the pattern depth is 19mm.And because the tires are mostly used in the summer,in order to improve the mileage and reduce the rolling resistance,the tread pattern design saturation is 75.2%,and the transverse groove is replaced by sips and semi-open design.The trailer tyre pattern has 6 straight grooves with a depth of 10.3mm and a design pattern saturation of 82.8%.The test results of finished tires show that the size of tires after inflation is qualified,and strength performance,durability,speed performance and rolling resistance all pass the design target.At present,the new product has passed the road test lasting for two and a half years,and then officially launched and sold for two years.The market feedback is very good.These two products are the first recognized products in the north American marke which are produced by Chinese tire factories on this size.It will help to improve the technical level of the enterprise and even the Chinese tire industry.
