With the growing energy crisis, all countries have formulated regulations on energy conservation.Low viscosity engine oil,as an important way to improve engine fuel economy, has become an important trend in the development of the automotive and lubricant industries. However,in the use of low-viscosity engine oil, phenomena such as burning engine oil and low adaptability of the engine at high speed for a long time have appeared one after another, which also puts forward higher requirements for the low-viscosity lubrication of engine oil. Therefore, this paper conducts a risk study on ultra-low viscosity engine oil.First, the lubrication theory of elastic fluid dynamic pressure lubrication is described, the working state of the engine lubrication system and the main friction pair is introduced, and the influence of different performances of the engine oil on the engine is analyzed. Then use the Flowmaster software to model the engine lubrication system, analyze the changing trends of oil pressure and oil flow under different viscosities, and determine the relationship between viscosity and the formation of elastic fluid dynamic pressure lubrication. In order to further analyze the influence of the viscosity and oil film strength after the formation of liquid lubrication, high temperature and high shear(HTHS)and tapered roller bearing(KRL)experiments were carried out on different viscosity motor oils. The potential risk of ultra-low viscosity engine oil is determined through simulation analysis and comparison of shear experiment data, and corresponding improvement measures are proposed. The research results of this paper not only effectively reduce the lubrication risk of the engine, but also provide a theoretical reference for the further development of ultra-low viscosity engine oil.
