Shoushan Seal Stone as an important treasure of Chinese traditional culture,its surface quality has a great impact on the economic value of itself.Since the surface of the Shoushan Seal Stone is mostly a special-shaped curved surface,the polishing of the Shoushan Seal Stone in China is generally carried out by hand with a polishing tool such as sandpaper.However,the polishing steps of the workers are complicated and the processing efficiency is low.In addition,a large amount of dust is generated during the manual polishing process,which greatly harms the health of workers.With the increasing popularity of Shoushan Seal Stone in China,the backward processing method of manual polishing has become a bottleneck for the improvement and development of Shoushan Seal Stone industry.Therefore,it is necessary to adapt the development of the industry to develop an automatic drag-type Shoushan Seal Stone polishing scheme and improve the processing quality and efficiency of the Shoushan seal stone.This article uses traditional hard abrasive polishing tools to process Shoushan seal stones at first,explores the feasibility of dragging and polishing machine to process Shoushan seal stones,and analyzes the mineral composition,hardness,mineral particle size and compactness of Shoushan stone samples.Laying the foundation for the next work.The test result shows that the hard abrasive can quickly remove the deep cuts on the surface of the Shoushan Seal Stone,especially when processing Shoushan Stone with high quartz content,the polishing efficiency is very high,however,for Shoushan Stone with a lot of mica content,due to the large hardness difference between the hard abrasive and the Shoushan Stone sample,new scratches will be introduced on the surface of the sample,which cannot improve the surface quality well.Secondly,based on the non-Newtonian fluid with shear thickening effect,a non-Newtonian fluid polishing liquid which is suitable for the speed of the drag polishing machine is prepared by selecting the component ratio.With the fluidity of the polishing liquid,it can contact a large-area with the processing surface of thespecial-shaped Shoushan Seal Stone,realizing the automatic polishing.The polishing liquid is prepared by dispersing abrasives in an aqueous solution of corn starch.Therefore,it is a flexible polishing tool.When polishing Shoushan Stone,the surface of its sample will not be damaged,and the surface quality can be greatly improved.However,the abrasive sedimentation speed in the polishing liquid is relatively fast,and the disadvantage of easy deterioration in storage at room temperature make it difficult to apply in large quantities in engineering practice.Further combining the research experience of the gel tool in the sol-gel system of the research group,a flexible gel ball polishing tool was developed.And W40 diamond xerogel ball was selected for rough polishing for 60 mins.In the fine polishing stage,the automatic polishing scheme of Shoushan Seal Stone was processed with W20 alumina wet gel ball for 60 minutes.The plane and special-shaped Shoushan Stone were tested and verified.Within 2 hours,the surface roughness of Shoushan Stone was reduced from 1000 nm to 200 nm,and the surface glossiness was increased from 0gu to 50 gu.The surface quality was smooth and flat,which was greatly improved compared to before polishing.The article developed a flexible gel ball polishing tool suitable for Shoushan Seal Stone,and worked out a practical and automated drag-type polishing scheme,which realizes the green,efficient and high-quality automatic polishing of Shoushan’s seal stone.
