| John Bellamy Foster(1953-)is one of the representatives of contemporary Western ecological Marxism.He reinterpreted the classic works of Marxism from an ecological perspective,and combed the ecological ideas contained in them.And structure,reconstructed and developed the material transformation crack theory of Marx and others.The formation of Foster's the Crack of Material Transformation Theory is closely related to the prominence of environmental problems at the end of the 20 th century and the development of western ecological ideas.Its generation is not accidental.It is produced in the process of solving the ecological dilemma by using Marxism,which is the essential reason for analyzing environmental problems,critique the inevitable result of the capitalist mode of production.This article regards Foster's the Crack of Material Transformation Theory as a whole.Under the century background of the intensified ecological crisis and the vigorous development of green thoughts in the late 20 th century,this paper comprehensively sorts out and explains the era situation and theoretical origin of Foster's the Crack of Material Transformation Theory.Theoretical content and theoretical application,in order to fully present the theoretical style and contemporary value of its material transformation crack theory.And provide reference and inspiration for the construction of ecological civilization in the new era of China.This article first analyzes that in the context of the 1970 s,with the aggravation of the late capitalist ecological crisis,the incomplete ecological improvement of Western countries and the vigorous development of the green movement,Foster returned to the classic text of Marx and traced back to it.The contained ecological concept,on the basis of inheriting and developing the ideas of Justus von Liebig and Marx,formed Foster's the Crack of Material Transformation Theory.Secondly,this article explains the content and application of Foster's the Crack of Material Transformation Theory.Foster upholds the Marxist standpoint and viewpoint,blames the occurrence of ecological problems on the capitalist system and production methods,and believes that the urbanization and long-distance trade between urban and rural areas brought about by the rapid development of capitalism have produced cracks that affect the normal transformation of materials,causing Alienation of nature and human society.The inherent anti-ecological nature of the capitalist system has caused cracks to spread to the world with capital.Finally,regarding how to eliminate the cracks,Foster believes that only by overthrowing the capitalist mode of production,reforming the capitalist system,and the ecological revolution in which ecological justice and social justice are synchronized can the socialist ecological ideal of harmony between man and society be realized.Foster's research not only strongly refuted the accusation that "Marx is Prometheus",but also formed the unique Foster's the Crack of Material Transformation Theory.As President Xi said: "A good ecological environment is the most equitable public product and the most inclusive people's well-being."
