Watertight connectors are universal supporting devices for marine equipments.At present the working depth of foreign watertight connectors can reach 10000 meters below.While the domestic research on watertight connectors starts late,and the maximum working depth is only 7000 meters.The deep sea connector technology needs to be developed urgently.This paper focused on rubber materials for watertight cables.Improving the performance of the neoprene materials through the design of the formula and the optimization of the process meeted the requirements of application.The optimal formula was used to produce watertight cables.In short,the following research work of this paper was included:(1)Preparation and properties of CR composites:Foreign sample was analyzed by IR,EDS,SEM,DSC,TGA,DMA.The results showed that the foreign sample was CR composites,and the mechanical properties were tested.The properties of different grades of CR were explored,it showed that M40 and CR232 were more suitable as the base glue for watertight cable materials.The performance of CR composites reinforced different carbon black was compared,it was found that extrusion processing and mechanical properties of CR composites reinforced with N550/N990 were better.By adjusting the filler and plasticizing system and comparing the performance of the formula with high vulcanization temperature,the optimal formula meeting the usage requirements of watertight cables adapted to deep sea watertight connectors was obtained finally.(2)Production and application of watertight cable:Physical properties and watertight performance of watertight cable were tested,the results showed that the sheath meeted the requirements,and the formula could be scaled up.(3)Preparation and properties of CR/NR blends:In order to improve the insulation performance of CR,CR/NR composites were prepared.Considering the deep sea environment,and the amount of NR was within 30 parts.CR/NR composites with different combination ratios were prepared.When the ratio of CR/NR was 80/20,the electrical insulation performance was improved,and the volume resistivity could reach to 1012 ?·cm.Through comparing the performance of CR/NR filled with white carbon black modified by different processing,the optimal process parameters were determined.Rubber was viscoelastic substance,and the rubber could swell when extruded.Through comparing the appearance of the extrudate and the extrusion ratio,the optimal extrusion process parameters were determined.The optimal dosage of filler system and plasticizing system in the formula was explored.Rubber composite materials with low compression set,seawater aging resistance,extrudable vulcanization were obtained.It was the best choice for deep sea cable coating.
